Guest guest
Darlene, No, the tests that are done for an annual physical do not include amylase and lipase testing. In light of your symptoms, though, it would be foolish for your doctor to not order this type of testing. He does have the right to refuse to do a CT-scan, unfortunately, but I believe that if you continue to complain to him about your problems, that he would consider ordering a CT-scan. It's just such a standard procedure for getting a dx with patients complaining of abdominal problems, that I can't see why he would object. Be firm and persistant with him, hopefully he'll believe in you and order the appropriate diagnostic testing. If he refuses, find another doctor who will take your complains seriously. Can he refuse or is it my right to have one done if I want it?
Guest guest
Darlene, That's encouraging news! By now, you've probably already had your CT-scan, and hopefully within a day or two the radiologist will complete his report and get it to your doctor. It will be interesting to find out if it reveals anything that could explain your chronic pain. Your doctor sounds like a tough nut to crack, but you did it! If he's so convinced that your pain is just caused by routine back pain, he may not want to do any further testing if your scan shows no abnormalties. You're probably on pins and needles waiting for the results. Please let us know what the scan shows, or doesn't show, when you can. There has to be some explanation.
