Guest guest
Kim, I am glad and sorry to hear that your ct came back normal. That is a blessing and a curse isn't it. You want things to be o.k. but you want to know why you are still having problems. My MRCP came back fine in March of last year and my doc kept saying I should be getting better. I didn't! When they finally rechecked in Dec. that is when they found my cyst. Now the diabetes is starting, so maybe you are starting with something that is not detectable yet. Hang in there! I am sure that if anybody can help you Dr. Cotton can! Take care, you are in my prayers! Guest guest
Hi all...heard from Elaine (Dr.Cotton's office) and she said that my CT came back normal. Dr. Cotton hasn't said anything else about finding what could be causing such pain and levels to be high sometimes. It's so frustrating, as so many of you know, not to be able to find out whats wrong, and now I'm not sure if Dr.Cotton is going to continue to " get to the bottom " of all this. I had e- mailed him asking what could be causing all this trouble, especially since he went in and everything was ok...pressures, appearance, sphincterotomy cut ok, everything...I just don't know what to do. If y'all have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I feel like I'm stuck out in the middle of the ocean, with no help in sight. Hope y'all are all well...Kim S. Guest guest
Kim, A normal CT scan doesn't necessarily mean that pancreatitis can be discounted. I had several CT scans, MRI's, ERCP etc, but none showed anything. When i had the severe pain, my amylase was sometimes raised, and my glucose tolernance test showed impaired glucose tolerance. My consultant was prepared to act on my symptoms, the evidence of impaired gluocse tolerance, and raised amylase levels. I had a total pancreatectomy, and the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis was only proved on the histology. Sorry if this confuses things even more for you, but a negative CT is not necessarily conclusive. Sue
