Guest guest
Hi Kim, I do sympathise about the frustration of all this. In 1988 I had a CT scan and it appeared normal. I know that things have progressed considerably since then but I know it is still very possible to have negative results, even with to-day's more sophisticated scan equipment, even if there is something wrong with the pancreas. Sue has had this experience, as she says. This does not mean that you DO have pancreatitis but it does mean that it shouldn't be assumed that you don't have. I wish the matter had been pursued earlier in my own case. I have been out of touch a bit because of various things happening in my life just now, so I may have missed things you have said. If so, I apologise. Have you had other tests for CP? A specialist pancreatologist can still make a likely CP diagnosis on symptoms if s/he is very experienced. Of course, I couldn't possibly say you have got CP. I hope you don't! But I do think it's worth following up. It's not wise to ignore pain and other symptoms. You have to keep insisting on being taken seriously about this. At least your result indicates that there is nothing too sinister going on and also that the pancreas, IF there is something wrong with it, has not yet developed cacifications or become atrophied. However, I know that this doesn't mean the symptoms are not bad. In 1988, my symptoms were a lot worse than they are now but no calcifications had developed then (they have now!) and the pancreas was pretty normal in size and appearance. I do hope things are sorted soon for you. With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
