Hello All

I'm new to this group and in search of information / individuals

who have had therapeutic ercp stent placement. I have been diagnosed

with chronic pancreatitis and am thinking about undergoing this

procedure but concerned about the possible complications etc. I

would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this procedure.

Thank You

Dear Alice

My name is Patty and I had the multiple stent changes. I had the first in July

of last year and had it changed every 4 weeks until October was when the doctor

removed the last one and said he couldn't do it any more. It has worked great

until 2 weeks ago when I had an acute attack. I think it is worth doing but it

is temporary. As you know this disease is progressive but anytime you can have

a break from the pain and admissions is always a godsend. I don't regret it at

all. GO for it girl.

Patty

Alice,

Just talk to your Dr. and explain to him your concern about going through the

the stenting at this time. I know what you mean when you say you are pain free

now knowing that when the procedure is done that it is possible you will have an

attack. Surgery is such a big decision. My doctor is suppose to review all my

x-rays to decide which physician he wants to refer me to to remove the head of

my pancreas. Just last Nov I wasn't at that stage yet but since I had an acute

attack 2 weeks ago it is the only option. I had seen a pain specialist and he

scheduled me for implantation of a neurostimular to control my pain but now the

GI says it will only control the chronic pain and will not prevent me from

having more acute attacks.

I am with you about finding this group. I don't know what I would do if I

hadn't of found them.

Sincerely.
