Guest guest
This whole discussion about cinnamon benefiting pancreatitis is so intriging. The reason I find it so interesting is something that our diabetic members might know about, but I wouldn't expect that the rest would know about. It's been proven that cinnamon can lower blood glucose levels for Type II diabetics, and many doctors now are recommending its use for their diabetic patients. There have been hundreds of studies, trials and research done to investigate the benefits of this spice and prove that it did work to lower BG levels in Type II diabetics. I've read as much as I can find about it, but no where have I found that it would do the same for Type I insulin dependent diabetics. Strangely enough, it works for me! I've been using it to make moderate reductions in my BG levels for several months now. If I have a fasting blood sugar level of 125 when I get up in the morning, I'll mix in about 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon with my coffee, and it will bring my levels down below 100. It's worked every time, but I've only tried to do it when I've had moderately raised levels. I haven't tried it when my BG levels have been as much as 50 or more above a normal level. This said, I wonder what the relationship is with this, (cinnamon), and lowered pancreatic pain. Now that research shows that it can benefit the endocrine functions of the pancreas, could it be that it benefits the exocrine functions as well? How and why? I'm definately going to be looking into this further. It's a shame that the FDA wouldn't do the same. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep.
