Guest guest
Dear, dear Fliss, It's so good to see you back online again after your brief absence. I'll bet that you're glad that the head principal is back again and that you're able to return to a more normal schedule. That's exasperating news about the delay of Jim's surgery! I know how difficult something like that can be.... I believe that you have to mentally prepare yourself for surgery, and get yourself into the right mental state so that the idea of going under the knife is not a fearsome situation and that you can approach it without anxiety. Once a person has reached that level mentally, a delay in the schedule can be such a let down, and then you have to start all over again. I do hope that the surgeon recovers swiftly from the flu and that they can get Jim in there post haste! My surgery was delayed by a week, and I didn't like that at all! It all did work out okay, though, I was well prepared and in a receptive frame of mind on the morning of the surgery. The first two days post-op were very unpleasant....I'd forgotten how much orthopedic surgery can hurt....those poor bones don't like being sawed, drilled and hammered upon! Today I woke without pain, and it's been only minimal ever since, so I do believe that the worst is over. All the tips of my toes are wiggling without too much objection. The bandages cover the remainder of them, so I don't know if they can do that all the way down to the base, but this was a surprise because I read all these letters on a foot surgery support site where people were saying their toes were all stiff after this surgery. So stiff that they had to go to PT for weeks or months, to have the toes manually exercised!! So sorry to hear that the flu has given you all such a problem. I've never had it, and never been jabbed for it, either. I heard on the news today that it's really going to be a problem here within a month or so, but don't know of anyone around me that's had it. It would be wonderful if you were able to be here for the Symposium in Indy in September, but I realize it's a long and expensive trip to come for just two days. I will be there, and am trying to encourage everyone else I know in our region to go, also. It's not that far for most, and it's such a worthwhile and fun occasion because you do get to see those people who were just names on paper before. When you hear from the surgeon, please let us know when Jim will be going into hospital. Meanwhile, take care and stay well. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep.
