Hey y'all,

My bandages and dressings were changed this morning at the

Podiatrist's office. The doctor asked me if I wanted the chair

reclined while he took the bandages off, so I couldn't see, and I

laughed. I told him that if I was able to stay awake for the whole

procedure and listen to all that sawing, drilling and hammering, that

seeing a little old blood and a big ugly scar wasn't going to send a

nurse running with the smelling salts!

My healing has gone very well, there's only a slight swelling of the

big toe, and although three of my other toes are slightly black and

blue, the two that were operated on look good and have mobility.

Those two have stitches on the underside that I didn't see, but the

large scar on the top shows no infection....so I'm good to go, sorta.

I got a new dressing and ace bandage and reluctant, cautious

permission to drive again. The doctor said that I'd have to be really

careful about the cars in front of me to avoid having the slam my foot

on the brakes....so I decided maybe I should learn to drive like my

ex-MIL did. She drove with both feet, one for the brakes and one for

the gas, and it always drove me crazy when I had to ride with her. I

don't know if I'd be more dangerous trying to relearn how to do it

that way for a while, or just driving defensively enough to avoid ever

having to brake suddenly. With the traffic as bad as it is around

here, this should be a challenge. Either way, it's nice to know that

I do have that freedom back again.

My stitches come out a week from Wednesday, and I have to wear the

surgical shoe for total of 6 weeks. There's only moderate pain when I

walk, but he did say that I should restrict my walking and time on my

feet as much as possible. He said that if I had to do the grocery

shopping, to use the motorized grocery chair.....I don't even know how

to begin to do that!! I'll have to take Bob with me to help me

figure it out, that's for sure.

Hope everyone's having a great day.

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi

That is really good news Heidi, but maybe you should just take it

easy on the driving. Where do you need to go anyway, can somebody

else give you a lift? Have you ever driven a standard transmission?

I haven't. Should make driving with both feet a little easier if

you had. You certainly dont need to hurt yourself by slamming on

the breaks, the kids are out of college this week and driving to the

beaches and stuff. Thats all you need is one of those drunk or not

indiots pulling out in front of you. Did he say you could take a

real bath now?

I am glad the recovery is going so well, keep it up and dont over do

it (one of my bad habits) too soon. Give youself time. The weather

is going to turn cold and nasty the rest of the week so it would be

a good time to work on your craft projects you talked about.

I have spent the better part of the morning looking for a site that

would help me write a resume. I looked in the stores for one and

they costs about 20 bucks. The ones online want about 100bucks,

guess I'm gonna go back to Staples...LOL

Keep up the good healing and will talk soon

Love,

Chrissy

PS Im not fond of soft shell crabs, cant seem to get past that

cartilledgy stuff; billy loves them. Had the best in Beaufort NC in

a little place called the Net Shop or something, fantastic food. I

just love that little town and its only about a 5 hour drive from

here. They pronouce it wrong tho, named after the same guy but they

call it " bowfort " while we pronounce it correctly, " beau " fort like

in beautiful...LOLOLOL funny huh. I just love that town tho; one

of my favorite places to go.
