Guest guest
Hi Ian, The only thing that comes to mind off-hand.....and I could be really off the mark here.....is that taking narcotics for the pain will increase the viscosity of fluids and that decreasing urinary output is one side effect of this so that if a person is not urinating often enough, there is a chance that the bacteria doesn't get flushed which could cause in increase risk of UTIs and possible kidney infection if the UTI travels up the system far enough. There may be other more direct associations...like the damage that is done during acute pancreatitis when the enzymes leak all over and cause organ, joint and other tissue damage...but when that happens, a person is usually critically ill...unless your back pain is a residual from your acute attack. Just two thoughts that came to mind...but like I said, I could be way off the mark on this..........
