Guest guest
Dave, You need to keep in mind that it is not the reason why everyone got pancreatitis that they deserve to suffer from this, noone deserves it. Alcoholism itself is an illness. Did you deserve to get Pancreatitis? no you didn't, neither did the person next to you on this board. What a person on this board has done in his/her life is not for you to judge. They might have done something wrong and have paid their debt to society, and again that is of their concern, not yours, especially when you don't know the reasons behind it and you don't know the person. You sound like you have a very large chip on your shoulder. You have found a very large and supporting network of people here, and we are only too happy to help you with any answers you may have, or to just listen, but accusations and rudeness are not the way to go about it. My pancreatitis was caused by a precancerous growth blocking my pancreatic duct, and after surgery to remove it, scar tissue caused further blockages and pressure upon the duct. A procedure was done to correct this but I am starting to experience the similar symptoms once more and it can only be explained by more scar tissue and other factors related to other surgeries around the area of my pancreas. Guest guest
The people on this board have been so kind to me. No one causes the pain that pancreatitis brings on purpose. Alcoholism is definitly a disease and some people on this board suffer from it, but that should NOT MATTER, the only think that matters is that everybody on this board tries to help each other. THis group is where I get tons of information and it does not matter why a person has pancreatitis it just that they try to share what they know and what they are going through with everyone. Please keep an open mind, a

Dave, You are mistaken, and this is a very incorect and uneducated statement. Even my GI doctor has said to me, " Heidi, I drink alcoholic beverages, and have most of my adult life. The mystery to me is why I don't have chronic pancreatitis, yet others like you do? " It is no fault of the person who has innocently consumed alcohol any more than it is that of people who are idiopathic, gallbladder related, genetic related or acquired by medicines. There aren't any warning labels for pancreatitis. The pain that we have to endure chooses no favorites. The purpose of this group is to discard stereotype attitudes, and to embrace compassion and understanding for ALL persons afflicted with this dreadful condition. Let me remind you that this is a SUPPORT group, based on the principle that this place is a safe haven for anyone who needs help, friendship or understanding, and is interested in broading their knowledge of pancreatitis, so that they can enjoy a better life, and help others to do the same. Please respect and honor this. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@... Guest guest
Dave, Yes, I am here because of CP and because I got CP from my gallbladder surgery. I also have SOD which causes the pressure to build up in my pancreatic duct and causes daily pain. Although I DO have 16 years in recovery (from drugs and alchohol), I didn't get CP till 7 years ago from my surgery. Whatever the reason people come to this board, we all have one common bond, WE ALL SUFFER FROM PANCREATITIS. If you stick around awhile, you will get to " know " some of the people on this board and maybe appreciate the compassion and understanding that happens here. I do hope that you get relief from your pain from the CP and I also hope that you feel better soon too. Take care Kris in TN
