Guest guest
Hi guys, I just got home from the hospital. I have been in since Wed. I had pain that had progressively gotten worse since last week. I worked Mon. and Tues and really don't remember much of those days. I was in misery. Finally Wed. I went to the E.R. thinking they would just give me fluids and pain meds and send me on my way. But they decided to keep me. They said there was " air " in my bile duct and my bowels had completely shut down. I knew I was having pain on my right side but I just assumed it was from my pancreas. They put me on dilaudid every 2 hours and zofram and fluids and then switched me to demerol every 4 hours and started me on Protonix. I feel like a new woman. I didn't realize how bad I felt until I felt better. Of course my amalyse and lipase were normal since they no longer go up due to my chronic cp. My blood sugar kept dropping so they had to put stuff in my i.v. for that. My doc gave me copies of everything to take to ton on the 30th. They did say the no longer saw a cyst on my pancreas but my doc said my bowels had me belly so full of gas it was hard to see anything. One other thing I noticed was that my urine turned ver dark yellow. Is that due to bilirubin? My doc didn't seem to think it was a big deal. I have to say that University hospital in Augusta has some of the best E.R. docs and nurses I have ever been around. They didn't make me wait at all in the e.r. They took me straight back and started me on pain control immediately. I usually go to my local hospital but since my doc is in Augusta I went over there and they were wonderful! They actually knew what to do with me! I hope everyone is o.k. I am trying to catch up on my email now. Guest guest
Welcome Back Angie, I'd be sticking with that hospital if you got that good of care with them...it does make a hospital stay or even just an ER visit that much better. Air in your bile duct huh?....Every CT scan I've had since February 2004 (and that has been 6 of them) have shown air in my bile duct. The doctors have said..that is common after an ERCP or Pancreatitis flare up, but considering I haven't had an ERCP since November 2003 and not had a flare up worth warranting a a big mention since then either, and the fact that it has been showing on my CT scans now for 13 months, I would think it is safe to say that the air is trapped there, not different air bubbles each time. I guess I shall just wait until I see my oncologist and mention it to him as well as my new GI in April and May.. Anyway, I'm glad you're home and feel tons better.. Guest guest
Angie, I'm glad you are home and sorry that you were in so much pain that they kept you in the hospital. I don't know if it's the biliuribin in the urine or what , I did notice during my hospital stay earlier this month that my urine was dark for the first couple of days and then got progressively lighter (man, the things we talk about here, lol). Sounds like you need to go to Augusta from now one whenever you have to go to the ER. I'm still catching up with my email too. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Kimber, I will definetely go back to Augusta instead of going to my local hospital! And it is a hoot what we can talk about on here. No one else would understand though!!! Ain't it grand to be able to share you peeing and pooping experiences with people who care! LOL!
