Guest guest
Hello all. Well I finally had my gall bladder taken out by lap chole on Friday the 18th. I feel like i've done a 1000 sit ups right now, but I'm glad it's done. My surgeon told me he was " shocked " by the amount of stones I had. He went on to tell me that he didn't expect any stones cause tests had only shown sludge. Which really annoyed me, cause I know for a fact 2 tests said in clear letters that there were stones. He also told me he doesn't know if this will cure me or not. I'm hoping that maybe i've had these microscopic stones all along and they've been affecting my pancreas. My doc said that he's not even sure if my daily pain is caused by pancreatitis. But I don't have much faith in anything he says now. Just thougtht I would let everyone know. Take care,Jen. Guest guest
I'm glad you got it done Jen, and especially glad it showed results. I do truly hope that this was the sole cause for your pain. Whilst many people do still suffer from panc pain after gallbladder removal, many others don't. I for one don't have a great deal of pain from the removal of mine, even though it wasn't removed for the cause of pancreatitis or gallstones...lately it has been hurting around that area, but it could be trapped air... Just take it easy, and let your body heal.. Regards, catherine Ward
Guest guest
Jen, I am glad that is over for you! I had lap chole 9 years ago. The first day I was sore and after that it just got better and better. Of course, I didn't have pancreatitis at the time. Isn't it amazing how they think they can see all on these scans and tests and the body fools them sometimes. I told my doc it is like trying to xray my eyes and tell me what color they are! It is so much guess work. I also believe that the radiologist don't always catch things and that it is important for the docs to review the films themselves instead of relying on a report! My very first CT scan right after my first visit to the hospital the radiologist said he saw a 4 cm cyst in my breast. I knew that is was not there it was in my pancreas. Well, I had a mammogram and sonogram and guess what, it was not there! They would never say it was in my pancreas! Then 1 1/2 years later guess what.. Oh you have a cyst on your pancreas. There are so many limits as to what the medical field knows about pancreatitis in general. It is very frustrating. Sorry for turning this get well wish into a venting session! Ididn't mean to do that! I do hope you are having a great pain free day!!! Guest guest
Dear Jen, I am glad your surgery is over and hopefully you are on the road to a full recovery. I hope all your pain was caused from the stones and gallbladder and that your pain never returns once you are healed. My prayers are with you for a speedy and full recovery. Love, w
Guest guest
Dear Jen, It's good to see you home and recovering well from the surgery.....well, I guess I should say " procedure " , since a lap chole isn't considered surgery, but it needs tending just as well, doesn't it? Hopefully getting all of that cleaned out will restore your health and comfort levels to a point where you can deal with it. I hope you continue to feel well and don't have any more problems.
