Guest guest
Hi, Just an update again. Jim is being admitted at 3.00 pm on Good Friday (!!) for his prostatectomy the next day. Please keep us in your thoughts. I will be seeing my consultant on Wednesday about the follow-up monitoring to my tests so far. My latest CT scan showed no change from last year's. The ERCP, with pancreatic juice collection, showed that the K-ras mutation was positive but the other two (P6 and P51, I think) were negative. Prof now has to decide the monitoring programme best suited to me as I am high risk now with my 50+ years of hereditary chronic pancreatitis. I also have a bone density scan on Wednesday as I have osteopoenia, linked to coeliac disease and malabsorption from years of pancreatitis as well. I am so very grateful to my gastroenterologist who reviewed all my biopsies back to 1988 and was able to say that I definitely have coeliac disease as well as advanced CP. Staying on the gluten-free diet as well as low-fat, no-alcohol etc. may not always be that easy, but it really does help me, provided I take Creon as well, of course. I hope all my friends on the board are doing well. I'll be visiting the board a lot this week but next week I'll disappear again, for obvious reasons. More catching up on posts now! With love to you all, Fliss (UK)
Guest guest
I think I will light a candle for you and Jim on Friday, I will be at the church anyway, I think. Please let meknow how everything goes as soon as you are able. I know the next week will be very scarey and stressful for you and your family. How are the boys holding up? Thats really good news that your pancreas has not deteriorted in a years time. You have taken very good care of yourself. I know its hard at times, not having all the sauces or wine for that matter. But it has certainly paid off hasn't it. How are your feet, has that gotten better as well. I think Sue told me she has an appt with the prof on wednesday as well. Do you think ya'll two might bump into one and other. It would be great if you two could have lunch or at least a chat. I know her daughter has been ill so she may not have as much free time. If you see her please tell her I said hello, she is a wonderful person. I wish I could meet you both. Well please dont let the stress of all this make matters worse for your pancreas. Stress would always do me in. I think about you and Jim a lot and am worried for you two. I can understand that this seems like the worse thing that could ever happen. He will get recover and everything will be better I have faith in that. He is in excellent hands. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I worry all the time that Billy will face this one day and it scares me to death. I can handle my own illnesses but simply cant bare to see some one I love afraid or with health issues. Being a nurse and knowing all that I know sometimes can make things worse. Dont ever underestimate the power of ignorant bliss. Ya'll are in my prayers and please give Jim a big hug and hello from this southern belle. Chrissy

Guest guest
Hi Fliss, It's so, so good to hear from you again. The board's not quite the same when you're gone, but we do understand all the pressures that you and Jim are facing right now. It's good that your CT-scan showed no changes from last year, aren't you lucky for that. Thoughts of you and Jim have been frequent, as well as many prayers, and I will be praying for the success of his surgery on Good Friday weekend. You must both be feeling so much apprehension.......do try to relax and have some quiet time to restore your energy and spirit. Just remember that Jim, and you, will be in the prayers of all who care. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@...
