Guest guest
How are you feeling? I am sorry you needed to be hospitalized but it sounds like you received excellent care. Hope your still feeling well. Is your appt with Dr. Hawes on Monday ap30th? He is a great guy, I have known him for years and years. Please feel free to tell him I reccommended him, we go way back and have remained friendly. If I ever have a question, I know I can email him and he will write back as soon as he can. Great guy, really takes him time and makes sure that you will understand everything he says. That is a terrific staff there as well. He may run a little late taking you back because he does spend so much time with his patients, but it is well worth it. He has worked with Dr. Cotton for, I want to say, 20 years, but may be less. He was there long before I can along and that was 10 years ago. I used to recover a lot of his patients and he has a wonderful bedside manner. Let me know if there is anything I can help ya'll with. Didn't you say you have family in ton that you can stay with? If not, the hospital does have host hotels that provide a reduced rate for MUSC patients. The hotels in the city are very expensive and any reduction in cost is always a help, well in my book anyway. Also to save on parking, the hospital will provide transport form the hotels. Youcould give them a call to find the list of hotels. Sorrry I know know what they are anymore. My mind is still like swiss cheese from having taken so many drugs for so long (thats my story and I'm sticking to it...LOL) Take care Chrissy
Guest guest
Chrissy, You are such a hoot! Thanks for the info. Yep, I did call the hospital. I told my hubby I didn't want to stay with his family for just that one night. And I went into the hospital on our the day of our 14th wedding anniversary!! So I called Guest Services and they got us the Marriot for $69.00. That was a great deal. Online it was 150.00. So we will have our night there and go to California Dreaming to eat for a romantic dinner. My appt. is on Wed. March 30th. So next week we are heading down on Tuesday night since my appt. is at 9:45 a.m. and we live almost 3 hours away. I don't do mornings really well and sho nuff don't want to get up and travel that far that early. I am feeling better just really tired. The pain is back to a tolerable level with my pain meds I take every day. I went back to work today because we have our accreditation committee coming tomorrow and I knew I had to get everything right since I was out from Wed. til today. ( I work in an elementary school.) I am really looking forward to meeting Dr. Hawes. I have heard great things about him and your glowing recommendation makes me feel really good about him. I will tell him that I have met you online. My GI doc that is sending me to him says he is great. And speaking of brains being swiss cheese you should see the list I made for my hubby while I was on dilaudid in the hospital! It is a hoot!!! Take care and thanks again! Angie in SC " The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything that comes along their way. Guest guest
Chrissy, Thanks! I would love the directions. I got the directions to the hotel but when I was reading the directions to the Rutlege tower in the packet of info they gave me I was very confused! I would love to meet you! Maybe we could do lunch the next day if you can meet us? Email me privately and we can hash out the details. The reason I don't want to do dinner is not because you would be a third wheel but simply because I am not sure what time we will get down there. I have gotten all of my copies of films except for the CT scan and x-rays they did last week while I was in the hospital. I am calling tomorrow to get those and will drive to Augusta Fri. to pick them up. Something interesting that was in 2 of my reports that no doc ever mentioned to me was that I have a considerable amount of deteriation in my lower lumbar spine. Between L4 and L5. My grandmother had a degenerative spine disease and no doc thought this was pertinent information! I was flabbergasted! I over did it today and paid for it my pain got really bad today after supper and I spent about an hour and a half vomiting and in extreme pain. It is back under control now but for a while there I thought my hubby was going to have to take me back. I had to push a little harder at work today due to our accreditation review. That is over with. Thank Goodness!!! Let me know about the lunch and the directions! Take care, Angie in SC " The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything that comes along their way. Guest guest
Thanks, I think Iwill give them a call tomorrow. I am such a worry wart and the last thing I need is to get stressed over nothing. I dont know if I could give you very good directions. I could pick you up and take you easier then trying to describe it. Driving in Chas can be a pain. That is why I think calling the security desks and checking on transport would be ya'lls best bet. Its free and they are really nice too. I have even had them drive me to my car when I worked the late shift. I have seen them take tons of patients. Rutledge tower is not that hard to find as long as you can get to Rutledge Ave. Its a one way street and getting back to your hotel will be more tedious. Rutdege Ave runs diaganally from spring street the main highway off of I26. So if your going north on spring street rutledge is the 4th right. If I counted correctly. I'm not sure exactly which hotel your staying at. Once you get to the tower go to the main elevator, its a bit of a walk. Then get off on the 2nd floor and take a right. Keep going down the hall, there are a few corners but stay on the hall, until you get to a sharp turn that goes to the right and says connector to main hospital or storm eye or childrens hospital, one of those. But you take a left, that is the digestive disease center and you will see a lot of pictures of the staff on the wall and a reception desk on your left a little ways up. If you have gone too far you will se that you are on the catwalk over ave. turn around and go back, then just go straight. I was just kidding about dinner, but ya'll should have a romantic night out away from the kids. Iknow we dont get many with our brood. Lunch is possible but I am sure you husband, like most husbands, will want to " hit the road " ..lol. Talk soon and if you have any qu's just email me .. you have my permission. Boy what a jerk that guy is, he email me too but when he posted earlier Ithough he was trying to make nice. Poor guy, bet he is really lonely. Warmly, > Chrissy, > They should get you the results! I would call them and ask. Maybe they can > tell you something right then. Especially with your blood sugars going back up. > Don't wait! Let them know. I am praying you are fine!! > Angie in SC > > " The happiest of people don't necessarily have the > best of everything; they just make the best of everything that comes along > their way. Guest guest
Angie, While you're at Cali. Dreamin', if you like salmon, try the salmon with tortilla chips appetizer.....it's one of my favorites and makes my mouth water just to think about it! I hope you have a good day with Dr. Hawes and that they can get y'all figured out, girl! I'll be at the doctor's myself that day, hopefully graduating into athletic shoes instead of this tiring old surgical shoe, so I'll be sure to remember you and say a prayer that your appointment is successful.
