The most obvious association, if the three women in your family

are blood relatives, is that you are dealing with the possiblity of

hereditary pancreatitis. There are genetic factors that

pre-dispose on to having problems with the pancreas and it is

simply known as hereditary pancreatitis (as opposed to

idiopathic, alcoholic, auto-immune, etc). One of the members

here fits into this category and there are tests that can be done to

find out if that is the case in your family.

Although, the idea that environmental factors being a trigger for

" idiopathic " pancreatitis is not that far fetched. There is a known

clear association between certain insecticides, pesticides and

lymphomas and leukemias so it is not that far fetched that

people exposed to certain chemicals may experience damage to

the pancreas. In fact, there is a category of pancreatitis known

as toxic, which takes into consideration chemical exposure as

well as reactions to medications and alcoholic beverages.
