Guest guest
I think it is great that your Mom is available to go with you to the doctors. I wish my parents were still around; I would definetly give them a big hug and kiss too. Besides I would have loved to see my Daddy jack up the doctors when they were giving me a hard time and in his best army officer demeanor instruct them to " remedy the situation now " ...LOL. I have seen alot of patients take notes and even bring in tape recorders to the doctors office. Its a great idea so many people forget half of what they are told. Even I did and I know all the OR jargan. I think asking the doc to get you into see the surgeon ASAP is a very good idea. With every acttack there is an increased chance of causing more damage. I was told I needed a whipple too, but felt very uncomfortable with it. Just for me, thats all. After a few weeks the surgeon told me about the Beger procedure. It still removes the head of the pance but leaves the duodenum and antrum of the stomach alone. So I had that on April 26, 2004. I was in the hospital for about 8 days. Most people, in my experience, dont go into the ICU after a whipple unless there are other serious contribuiting factors, heart disease or severe infection and the like. the incision is from the breastbone to the belly button. The first day or 2 post op you are going to feel horrible, but slowly but surely you will start to feel better. I know within 2 weeks of my surgery I was dancing around my living room with Bob Marley cranked up on the stereo. So I think you could still attend your sons graduation (way to go Mom) in early June. You might not be able to wear that tight leather mini skirt or dance in the street but you will be there to cheer him on and hug his neck. It was a much easier surgery to recover from then the total. It was about a month or more before I could dance like a lunatic in my living room. Anythoughts on the tp-ict? Good luck with the doc, and let me know how it goes. I've got you in my thoughts and prayers. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away, I'm not shy...LOL. Warmly,
Guest guest
I will ask the doc about the TP/ict. How bad do you have to be to get the tp. The doc said that all my damage is in the head of the panc where the big ducts are. As far as my son's graduation goes I told him after him and his friends celebrate I wanted them to come over to my house and I was going to fix them breakfast. If they wanted to crash for a while they could. When my son brings over his friends and my daughter also, I always cook for them.
