Guest guest
Hi Aimee, << Hi! I have a question about spices. When a spice is legal, does the > size matter? My thinking is fresh ground pepper. Could the size be as > hard on the healing gut as say the seeds we all avoid? > My son is going thru a 'more pepper please' stage. > Thanks, :)Aimee > 2 yr. son, healing leaky gut, SCD 6 weeks >> The size of the spice that is tolerated by an individual is dependant on the stage of healing that the gut is currently at. For those just starting SCD or in early stages of healing I'd suggest grinding spices very fine and see if they are tolerated. As improvement on the diet is made, the spices may be tolerated with coarser grinds. Your son may need pepper grinded very finely. If he starts having symptoms again you'll need to either avoid the pepper for a bit or grind it smaller. If he tolerates pepper ground very fine you could make up a special little bottle of his own preground pepper.
