So we seemed to be doing better and decided to introduce well cooked

green beans. This was on Friday. The next day we went from 1-2 bm's/day

to 6. The good news is that there still isn't any blood. But his bm's

have mucus and are either the consistancy of the almond flour or just a

murky film. Today is Monday and we are still having 6 bm's. There isn't

much coming out. But he is also to the point where he doesn't want to

eat because we aren't moving forward on the diet. We have been on the

intro now for several weeks and he is sick of it. So the question is

does anyone have any ideas on how to get him to eat? And the other

question is do I take eggs back out of his diet? Do I wait until his

bm's go back to 1-2 a day before I add something else again?

Thanks again in advance.

,

You have been souly on the intro diet for several weeks? Intro diet should not

exceed five days even if diharea or looser stools persist. Were green beans the

first item that you tried that were not on the intro diet? Perhaps you should

introduce butternut squash or homemade applesauce or very ripe bananas. You

also might want to consider seeking the help of one of the certified SCD

counselors.

For some people, green beans and carrots are very hard to digest. French cut

green beans are the best to try but even those can cause problems for some

unless pureed. Try veggies like butternut squash, acorn squash, zuchinni

sqaush, avocado.

My boys love the butternut squash fries. I have seen posts where a parent

peeled, cooked pears and butternut squash or zuchinni and mixed with coconut

milk and frozen in popsicle molds. This should be very easy to digest and taste

good.

Hope this helps.

Kind of as an aside to this...does anyone know where to get popsicle molds aside

from ordering them from a Tupperware consultant? I'd love to get some for

making at home.

Thanks. I've got about 10 drugstores within 10 minutes of my house. I'll start

checking around.

Re: need help with the intro diet

Rite Aid has them right now for $2. Most drug stores carry them this time

of year.

Hi all,I am new to this group.I've just ordered Breaking the vicious

circle and cooking for little tummies today, and I've already made a

flat bread, and chicken soup to see how my son likes it.

I haven't started yet as I haven't quite understood how it all

works ,I am waiting for the book first.

We've been free of gluten ,casein, soy, yeast, eggs, rice, corn and

avoiding high phenol foods, colours, nitrates and all the rest for more

than 10 months and my son is regressing, so I thought I try scd.

I don't know if my son is going to tollerate yogurt but I want to

try .Problem is I live in Cyprus and I don't know how I can get the

yogurt starter, since it takes more than a week for things to get here

from US.I can find goats kefir though and I thought I ask if this will

work.

I want to try and make it before we start as I found it a bit

complicated even with the step by step pictures.

Thank you Antonitsa

I buy most of my popsicle molds from the dollar stores. (Good thing

too because by the end of the summer my kids have broken or lost at

least half of the " sticks " to the molds). But I have to admit that

Tupperware is my favorite - they open differently than the regular

molds. If I'm freezing anything with yogurt or milk I use the

Tupperware because I can't get the popsicle out of the other molds. (I

don't know if almond milk or coconut milk would create the same

problem).

Kefir is not recommended for beginners. Elaine wrote that much later

when symptoms improve if people wish they could try it then. Some

items are available from European countries See

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/links/scd_links.htm

For Yogurt starters see:

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/yoghurt/yog_st

arters.htm There are two commercial yogurts available in the UK that

can be used for yogurt starter.

Depending on your son's symptoms and past use of dairy foods you may

want to wait a bit before re-introducing yogurt.
