Guest guest
Hi , My 8yo son was dx with colitis 4/05, and was extremely ill in fall of 05 (hospitalized for 3 weeks) and fall of 06 (two transfusions). Remicade worked for a while and then didn't. He's been on SCD since 11/06, and has made tremendous progress, he's almost off of prednisolone. It is slow progress, and has been up and down but yesterday his gi dr said he was surprised and happy that he was doing so well and that we were able to avoid surgery. The dr (not our gi) who recommended SCD said in his experience it works best for Crohns, and was surprised and happy it worked for his uc. We're grateful it has. Good luck -- I hope your son improves very soon. , mom to 8yo son with uc, dx 4/05, scd since 11/06, 2000 mg azulfidine/day, 3 mg prednisolone (down from 45 mg/day)
