Guest guest
What is the success rate for the SCD? The DAN (Defeat Autism Now) clinics that are very supportive of SCD report almost 100% success! This is an astonishingly high rate of success. Dr Sidney Baker who was one of the founders of the DAN movement wrote the following about SCD: " No other among the dozens of biomedical therapies I have suggested or witnessed has met with such consistent success. None out of more than two dozen patients, have elected to abandon the treatment for good. " [1] Pam Ferro is a nurse who runs a DAN clinic for autism in Massachusetts. Pam reports she too is having a nearly 100% success rate among the young patients she monitors on SCD. The doctors and nurses who run similar clinics give a lot of knowledgeable SCD counseling to the parents and stress strict compliance. The degree of success is lower in the clinics where doctors have not yet learned a lot about SCD or advocate some protocols that oppose those of SCD. Although at first, it is easy to make mistakes with SCD, it is also easy to make corrections. Parents who attempt to do SCD without help or do not read the book and use the websites carefully tend to make errors. Subscribing to the free Pecanbread list for prompt guidance plays an important role in succeeding. This latest new edition of the Pecanbread website has been carefully formulated to help parents avoid the most common errors made on SCD. No parent should give up on SCD without seeking the help of an SCD counselor. Ideally, parents having difficulties should get help from an SCD counselor once a month. Guest guest
I need some guidance on a possible folate source. We have been using Kirkman's folinic acid for about nine months now, and iel is still testing deficient in folic acid. He's been taking 2400mgs. per day which is a lot for his age and weight. Our DAN dietician wants us to switch to something else, but the only thing she could suggest might be a better shot at raising those levels is Actifolate. Apparently, it has three different forms of folate in it, and she is thinking that the three forms might do better at getting into his system. He's also deficient in all of the B vitamins...even B12 which we've been using the injections with him for nine months now. We're increasing the B12 injections to every other day to see if that fixes that, and also starting a B complex in transdermal form. So, I don't need to be concerned about legal forms of the Bs. I just need to figure out what we can try for folic acid sources of supps. Any suggestions? Meleah iel 4yrs., ASD, SCD May, 2006 Ethan, 6yrs., Mark 2yrs., What is the success rate for the SCD? Guest guest
Anya's grandma, There are regressions every 3 months during the first year. http://www.pecanbread.com/new/flares.html Do not get discouraged and keep up the good work. I think that the success rate for IBD is about 75% for folks on the IBD lists. I would asume that the success rate should be higher if people get counseling or read the pecanbread website very carefully. Several years ago, Wall Street journal had an article about SCD. The article quoted Dr Ditchek's remark that when Turet gave private counseling to his patients, the success rate was almost 100%.. Can anyone volunteer to run a survey to help us figure out the success rate? Mimi > What about the rate of success in UC or Crohns?
