Guest guest
Hi Sue, I have read your posts before and have seen where you think your life is so much improved. And I thought that was the case when the pancreas was gone, but Karyns post got me to thinking that maybe it was the wrong way to go. I have been trying to persuade to have surgery, but if I am wrong, I want to know so I will quit telling her I think it is the right thing to do. SO I need all the input that I can get on this subject. Thank you Jean
Guest guest
Hi Jean, I think pancreatic surgery is like everything else in life, not right for everyone. I think that you and your daughter need to get as much information as possible, and discuss all options with the doctors involved in her care. It is very major surgery, and, of course, is not without risks, so your daughters doctors should be able to advise her, after looking carefully at her medical history and current state of health. I was never really in any doubt about it being the right decision for me. As i was, i don't really think there was an alternative, as i certainly didn't want to continue the way i was, with the severe pain. I feel the diabetes is a small price to pay for being relatively pain free.My surgeon did explain to me that he could not guarantee that i would be pain-free, but that most people have a significant improvement in their level of pain. Please contact me if i can help with any further information about surgery. Best wishes to you and your daughter. Sue (UK)
