Dear All,

I want to report latest about my mother's treatment.

She had operation done on 28 March 2005. Her operation consisted (1) Gall

Bladder removal (2) Dead Portion of Pancreas removal (3) Colon Bypass due to

Large Intestine infection. As her age is 65 yrs. and she is having multiple

problems such as hypertention, thiroide, BP, sugar, etc. we were under tension,

but fortunately operation went smoothly. It took about 2.5 hrs. After the

operation Dr. has shown us the parts removed. There was a part of Pancreas of

size @ 10 cm long and 2 sq.cm size. Gall Bladder was also there. And some parts

may be from the cyst or infected large intestine. When I asked Surgen that how

much of pancreas is remaining after operation, he was unable to give the details

as he said it will only be clear after looking at performance after few days.

Before operation Dr. had told us that the operation involves much riscue and

even after operation the patient is to observed for improvements. He also

mentioned that she may behave irrelevently after operation. This may be because

of infection and sugar.

Infact after the operation (@ 30Hrs.) when we discussed with my mother on Close

Circuit TV and phone we realised that she is talking irrelevently. On bringing

this to the notice of Dr. he has changed some medicines, injections. He told us

that this change will show effect within 48 hrs.

I would like to request all friends to answer following :-

When will she recover? Whether she will be required to take lot of precautions,

and which are those precautions? Due to colon bypass her discharge is from a

hole in right side of stomoch and a plastic bag is pasted over there. For how

many days it will be required to be kept?

Due to the removal of some part of pancreas how her digestion will work?

Any other experience?

All the members are very helpfull to me in all my queries. I hope I will receive

similar responce.

I also hope my mother will recover quickly and will have regular life.

Thanks.
