She writes that many kids are tolerant of just egg yolks which are powerhouses of nutrition. Do you know if there is an allergy to egg yolks? Or just the whites? Does anyone know if Elaine Gottschall had any discussion of this?

She never mentioned it but last week I decided to make an egg white omelette for lunch and save some fat calories to use up from rich SCD Dripped French cream yogurt. Within seconds my waist was painfuklly swollen and I developed a rash. This doesn't happen when I use a whole egg. Carol F. Guest guest
Hi Brent, Regarding egg allergies: this is from the Lyris archives, 2003: from Elaine " Re: eggs and diarrhea/yolk vs. whites, culprit? 2003-10-19 11:28:00 <Elaine Gottschall> To answer your question, the whites contain a protein - ovalabumin which we used in immunology labs to create allergic reactions. The yolk is the best part with all the nutrients. I do not think the eggs are causing looser stools. I think you need a bit more time, Val. Make sure the peels are off those delicious apples and that they are cooked through as they are " tougher " than macintosh or a softer apple. I think he is eating sufficient carbs so that you do not have to worry about an unbalanced diet. Keep giving him the popsicles. " and " Re: Re:eggs and diarrhea/yolk vs. whites, culprit? 2003-10-19 11:34:00 <Elaine Gottschall> The yolk contains a perfect protein and every one of the 40 essential nutrients with the exception of Vitamin C. It is a wonderful protein along with having scads of lecithin and some of the essential cholesterol thereby saving the body the task of making cholesterol. Guest guest
I can tell you that I have been tested and I can have egg yolks and not the whites. I boil lots of eggs and then eat only the yolk, my dog gets the white!! -- Re: Ideas for breakfast > > We aren't doing the SCD for Autism but for Crohn's instead. Guest guest
You can be allergic/or intolerant to both whites and yolks...my daughter reacts strongly to both. > > > > We aren't doing the SCD for Autism but for Crohn's instead. Guest guest
Hi , You could ground up some chicken, mix it with mashed cooked apple, make them into a patty and pan fry. Maybe it would be kind of like a breakfast sausage? If Cole can have spices, maybe add a little thyme? Also, try mashing the squash and apples together, make into little silver dollar size pancakes (that way you can flip them) and cook like pancakes. Cinnamon would be good sprinkled on if he can have that? I know the yogurt is tart without honey, but you could see if the cooked apples sweeten it up enough? Have you tried ripe bananas? Hope this helps, Belle To: pecanbread Subject: Re: Ideas for breakfast > > We aren't doing the SCD for Autism but for Crohn's instead. We need to > keep egg out of the diet for now.
