Guest guest
Well it went...ok... I had some bloodwork and scheduled a MRI/MRCP for next week. I also have to do the 24hour stool collection. Then I have another ERCP April 25th. He is concerned about my weight loss and nutrition. He wants to put in a feeding tube. I am not sure how that works he explained a little about it. He said first is to try the one down my nose and a home health nurse would have to help me get it started it would be " hooke up " at night then off during the day? I do not know anything about this. He did say it was a small tube. What do they put in it? How does it go in? I was surprised that he wanted to do this as I do not look malnourished so far the weight is ok just do not want to loose much more. I guess I just have to wait on all the other tests and then they will know what all they have to do during the ERCP. They did say to expect to be in the hospital at least overnight if not a few days. So looks like another lo....ng month. I am very tired from the drive and am gettign a headache so I am off to bed for a bit. I stopped on my way back at taco bell my favorite place... seems every time I have a doctor appt. I have to test myself and see if I am realy having the problems or imagining them so I eat something and sure enough I had to stop three times on the way home and am hurting now. I think I sometimes hope I will have a different result and push the line a bit. Does anyone else do this? Is it part of accepting all this or denying it maybe? I'm off to bed,
Guest guest
, I'm glad that your appointment went well. Your experience with food and the reaction you had on the way home is a popular one for those with chronic pancreatitis. The enzymes help with that problem. Did you meet Dr. Desario? If so, did you like him? Did he say that he thinks you have a problem with your pancreas? I hope that you can get things figured out soon. Before I had my pancreas removed I had a feeding tube. I didn't think that I looked malnourished, but my blood work showed that I was. The feeding tube was okay, but I'm happy to no longer have one. Sometimes my feeding tube would drain though. That was gross. One time I was shopping and the tube was draining and the pressure was so high that the cork popped off. Fluids from the small intestine were all over my clothes. The only other problem that I had was that sometimes the pharmacy wouldn't deliver the food for the tube on time. The good thing about the tube was that when I didn't feel like eating I did not have to. Also, I didn't loose any weight during that time. Oh, I just thought of one other thing about the feeding tube that you might like to know. Sometimes the body can't take much being put in all at once. I was one of the people who could not tolerate the food going in very fast so I had to be hooked to a pump nearly 24/7. I am glad that your drive was a safe one. Today was probably the best day this week to drive to Salt Lake. You didn't have to drive through a snow storm. Crystal Galloway
Guest guest
, I can sympathize with wanting to test and eat things. I know certain foods are triggers for me and sometimes when I am having a good day I will think maybe this time it won't hurt and dog-gone if it doesn't go and mess me up! Then I think how stupid was I to do that! I live in the south and you know how we love our fried chicken. Well, Fried chicken just about kills me but every now and then I think oh, one wing won't hurt! Then I regret it so much! I hope you are feeling better!
