They state: .....Normal values for lipase depend on the test used to measure it. In acute pancreatitis, lipase levels are very high, often 2 to 5 times the normal amount. Slightly high lipase values may occur in other conditions such as kidney disease, salivary gland inflammation, or peptic ulcer disease. ... So, that may account to why you have seen different lab value results. This is common that values will vary depending on the lab where it is done or the test they use. Karyn E. , RN Exec. Guest guest
Karyn, My first acute attack of pancreatitis presented 400,000 as my lipase level. That is near death. I had 7 pseudocysts an my liver was shuttin down. Now my lipase has been between 250 and 10,000. 250 is the normal level as stated by every doctor I've talked to. When yer lipase is 500+ then you are clinically having an attack. Thats when yer admitted fer TPN an pain meds. Hope I helped. My address is Crazylester2001@... Write me some. Guest guest
Hi Les, My last in hospital levels got to be over 22,000. My last blood work a couple of weeks ago showed that my lipase level was at 578. They didn't seem too concerned. Should I be? Rhonda
