Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell you that Jim has been home since Friday after his radical prostatectomy the previous Saturday. He is progressing well. Stitches come out tomorrow and next Monday he will have another overnight hospital stay to have the catheter removed. He is tired and fragile but pottering about (even a few short strolls in garden to enjoy sunshine!) and having a light but regular diet. I am nursing him and won't be going back to school until he is fine to leave for a few hours. The only job I can't do very well is putting on those anti-thrombosis stockings. I'm simply not strong enough! One of my sons helped me to-day but has now gone back to London. I'll have to manage until the other lad arrives on Thursday. Everything else is OK. My panc isn't too bad but has certainly not liked the worry and the less restful nights. Pancs are like wild beasts aren't they.....disturb them at your peril! indeed, even when you do everything right they can growl and threaten violence.....and mine does from time to time! Thanks again for kind messages. I'll keep you updated. With love, Fliss (UK)
Guest guest
Fliss, I'm glad to hear that Jim is doing well. You sound like you are managing okay yourself, and that is good. Do you have a good neighbour that could perhaps help with the stockings? I know I hate wearing those things when i'm in hospital. They always end up rolled down inside the velcro wraps they put around them because my backscratcher seems to push them down when i'm digging around to stop the itching they cause me....and then I would hope the nurses would forget about putting them back on when they take them off for my 1/2 hour daily freedom of them *L* If he is walking around a bit now, the doctor might approve to have them removed? I hope we keep hearing good news about Jim's recovery, and that your panc behaves itself moderately at this point when you really need it to.
