Guest guest
Up to hearing some old nursing tricks to putting on TED hose. Well first off get a small plastic baggie, the kind the kids take their sandwiches (samich to my kids) in and place it on his toes and over the top of his feet to slide the hose past this hard area. Also make sure that his legs are dry. If he is moist from bathing or perspiration, they are harder to get on. Talcum powder sprinkled on his legs helps as well. Although we are no longer aloud to use this in the hospital because of the risk of aspiration, just dont sprinkle it on his face..LOL. Press his foot up against your thigh and tell him to push a little on your thigh. Not too hard, you dont need him sending you out the door; but enough to keep his leg firm. Then slide them up just like panty hose. Make sure there are no wrinkles or creases as they will impair the blood flow instead of encourageing it. Then do tell him how pretty he looks! I am so glad that he is home now and recouperating where he feels the most comfortable. Its good that he is getting up and about, do encourage that as much as possible, dont over do it, but its important that he not stay lay in bed all day. Also remind him about those muscular exercises we had already discussed; those are very very important. Stress is quite a hindrence to our GI systems isn't it. Funny how that works. I remember once asking a professor I had what causes butterflies in the stomach when one gets nervous. He said he did not know exactly, but that every stimulie we receive in our bodies is also digested. Interesting thought, dont you think. Take care of yourself now; I know its hard with Jim having such a rough go, but the last thing you want is to get sick once he gets well. Wern't ya'll taking about going to Greece this summer. Ya'll are in my prayers. Love, Chrissy
