Guest guest
Ok gang, I have a few questions. Do low Amylase and Lipase indicate anything? Also if the pancreas is misbehaving, can that affect blood sugars? (mine won't behave at all right now !) How much fluid does one need in a day? I drink 1 gallon of ice tea everyday. Is that too much? Thanks, Keep smilin' Cyndi J in York SC>
Guest guest
Cyndi, I have always been told to drink 8 8 oz. glasses of water a day. So that is 64 ozs. a day. I actually drink alot more than that. I can't drink tea though. It really bothers me. Also I get cysts in my breasts from caffeine. I can tell when I am not hydrated enough. I drink sugar free kool aid and water all day. I can't drink carbonated beverages either. After gastric bypass they really don't like that little tummy. My blood sugars are up and down now and the docs say it is due to my CP. I can tell you though that my blood pressure actually drops really low when I am having a bad attack. When I was in the hospital in Oct. with my hysterectomy and this last bad CP attack the nurses kept checking my blood pressure and getting worried. One even brought a different machine because she thought the one she had was malfunctioning. She said most people have high blood pressure when in pain. My is the opposite. My sugars also swing more when I am having alot of pain. Guest guest
Hi Cyndi; a & l will go down often with pancreatitis as the pancreas will just sotp making as much; its not uncommon with people who have had cp for a long time. It will also drop with other conditions, but primarily cp. Tea can dehydtrate, its a diarrhetic (sp?) so you need to make sure you are getting enough water. I am a big water and soda drinker but have found that crystal light has some really good flavors and I'll not back a jug of that each day. I have had to cut back on the soda because Lord knows I certainly dont need any more gasses in my system. Guest guest
Angie, I was reading your post and noticed that you said your blood pressure drops when you are having an attack. I have the same thing happen. I take blood pressure medication because I normally have high blood pressure due to having a hug clot in my heart due to a blood clotting disorder and having bypass surgery, however they always take me off the medication when I'm in the hospital because even without it, I have really low blood presssure due to the attack. I wonder if anyone else has this problem? Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
