Guest guest
I have a question regarding octreotide. Where did you get the shot? From your family doc or your GI? I called my pcp this morning and they said they have never given those injections. They said call my GI. Well, I called my GI doc and they said they don't give injections in their office. So they wanted me to call my PCP. Well, I told them I had already contacted them and they said no. So my GI docs nurse called me back and said they are trying to find someone to give me the injections. I may have to go back to ton to have it. But then I thought well, I can go to the emergency room and they may be able to get it ordered there. I just don't know what to do? Any ideas? Guest guest
Cyndi, I am 2 1/2 hours away from ton. Actually my GI doc just called me at 9:45. Yep, 9:45!!! I was so shocked. He said he was sorry it took him so long to get back to me today but he was the only one on call and he had a bad day with a lot of patients in the hospital. I was so shocked that he took the time to call me that late! Anyway, he is going to call Dr. Adam's tomorrow and see what he wants him to do. He says they don't give injections in his office. I have never heard of a doctors office not giving injections! It doesn't make any sense to me! But he said he will do whatever Dr. Adam's tells him to do. I told him how much I appreciated him sending me to Dr. Hawes and Dr. Adam's and he said that when they say jump he says Yes sir, how high! It restored a lot of my faith in him! So hopefully he will let me know something by Thursday. I am off of work this week for spring break so I would like to have the injection while I am off in case it causes any reactions or makes my blood sugar go nuts. Guest guest
Can someone explain what the octreotide I'm reading about in this groups messages is used for.? I tried looking it up, but was confused even more. Is it something for the pancreas or was it made for something else and being used for a different cause. Thanks. is a teeny weenie little better. The mono really kicked him backwards. His spleen is still enlarged and they are watching his counts closely. The doctor said 8 to 10 more weeks of doing nothing that could cause bruising. Plus no lifting , no driving, etc. I still watch the baby while Cheri is teaching during the day. Thanks for all the help you have given to me. God's blessings! Guest guest
Octreotide: A drug similar to the naturally occurring growth hormone inhibitor somatostatin. Octreotide is used to treat diarrhea and flushing associated with certain types of tumors. Hope that helps....Mark Re:octreotide > > > Can someone explain what the octreotide I'm reading about in this groups > messages is used for.?
