Guest guest
My son did not do well with grape juice, we strictly use 1/2 water, 1/2 tropicanna orange juice. Also we waited probably a year before starting the goat yogurt. It sounds like you may be starting the yogurt too soon. There gut has to heal a good bit before starting the yogurt and using goat milk is recommended. If started too soon, then they can be reacting to the milk in the yogurt. You can get powdered probiotics that are legal to use until they are ready for the yogurt. We did very strict scd for 2 years. Now we do modified scd with potatoes added. My son had a difficult time gaining much weight without adding the potatoes. But he still continues to improve. SCD helped immensely. His last evaluation they put down autism (By History). He is now diagnosed with Mixed Expressive/receptive learning disorder with auditory and sequential processing issues. >>> " jmajbrooks " 4/23/2007 9:09 AM >>> We have been working with a dr. for about 8 months now useing Phosphotydal Chloline and Glutathione injections as well as multi. suppliments all of which we checked out for legal illlegal before starting the the beginner diet 4-3. On 4-8 we decided to stop the Phosphtydal Choline and glutathione injections one time a week and just cont. on the diet. We were never quite sure if it was helping much and it was past the point that we needed to make a decision to try and move on. After about a a week /week and a half of starting the diet the biggest difference we could notice is that his bm's are now consistantly formed and regular, and he is sleeping at nights consistantly good. So good that we are now having a new issue and he is also consistantly wetting the bed ( new problem for him) unless I wake him to go potty. Is this a related problem that anyone has heard of? Tomarrow will be three weeks on the stage one diet and we have been very dilligent. He eats alot of eggs, half and half welches grape juice popcicles, pear sauce, green beans and some cooked carrots. All meat it boiled or broiled and he will eat some banana pancakes. It was the 9th before we got the homemade yogart added into his diet and because we needed to make new we have been out of that for about three days and therefore he did not get any probiotic. We had hoped to enter our first stage two item but within the last two days his stimming and irritability has skyrocketed and his concentration and attention has decreased greatly. He has us worried and I was wandering if you thought this could be related at all to die off still or something else more likely?
Guest guest
I forgot to add in my last note something that might be important to know. We have been giving him epsom salt bathes every night. Yesturday we also gave him a little bit of the activated charcoal and two hours later we could not say it was apparently different. Thanks,
Guest guest
Well, the wetting the bed thing is probably just due to him sleeping so soundly now that he doesn't wake up on his own. I am working on night training with my 5 yr. old neurotypical son who also does this. If I wake him once a couple of hours into his sleep, he usually will use the toilet, and then keep the bed dry the rest of the night. This has just started in the last week. If I forget to wake him, he always has an accident. Meleah What am I seeing? Guest guest
Thank you for your suggestion and wisdom. i think you may be right on both accounts. The reason we started with the goat yogart was we heard it was the most gentle, and we never were clear on recommended powder forms. Could you give me suggestions that direction? Thank you again > > My son did not do well with grape juice, we strictly use 1/2 water, 1/2 tropicanna orange juice. > > Also we waited probably a year before starting the goat yogurt. Guest guest
Thank you I assumed this but I also hate to assume > > Well, the wetting the bed thing is probably just due to him sleeping so soundly now that he doesn't wake up on his own. Guest guest
Hi , << After about a a week /week and a half of starting the diet the biggest difference we could notice is that his bm's are now consistantly formed and regular, and he is sleeping at > nights consistantly good. >> Congrats! that sounds very good. << So good that we are now having a new issue and he is also > consistantly wetting the bed ( new problem for him) unless I wake him to go potty. Is this > a related problem that anyone has heard of? >> This problem has been reported a lot especially by newbies and especially when they start having consistently formed regular stools. Some of the bed wetting may be caused by an increase in the amount of fluid (more liquids, vegetables and fruits). Another possible reason is that as inflammation in the body decreases a lot of water build up is being released. Also, if he had loose stools or diarhhea previously the water that would have been in the stools is now been taken out and is going to the bladder - ending up with a lot more urine. This happened when my son started having solid stools. I would take him to the bathroom during the night, when I went to bed and eventually he was able to make it through the night without wetting the bed. <<... It was the 9th before we got the homemade yogart added into his diet and because we > needed to make new we have been out of that for about three days and therefore he did > not get any probiotic. We had hoped to enter our first stage two item but within the last > two days his stimming and irritability has skyrocketed and his concentration and attention > has decreased greatly. >> If I understand correctly: His stools firmed up nicely while eating the yogurt and the last few days of no yogurt he has been stimming and irritable? If this is correct it sounds like he is doing well with the yogurt and that it is contributing to the good stools and sleeping through the night (general improvement). Stopping the yogurt for the last few days may have caused some of the nasties to increase a little as exhibited by the stimming and irritability. Restarting the yogurt should help. Also starting a probiotic may help especially if you run out of yogurt again. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs mom of and
