Guest guest
Good morning group, I havent written for quite a while because of some odd miracle, i hadnt had an attack since thanksgiving. All of a sudden, though, they have come back with a vengeance. When it first started, a little over a year ago, i would have them everyother week, sometimes twice in the same week and the residual pain would last for maybe a day afterward. Now i am having them almost three times a week and the residual pain lasts for days afterward. My doctor continually dismisses it for acid reflux but, like i keep telling him, none of those medications help me at all so how can it be that??????? he has changed dosages on those meds so many times and nothing helps at all. Im trying to find a new GI doctor again. All the ones around here are very young and they think they know it all and just dont care to listen. I guess i just need some re-enforcing support from this wonderful group for a kick start in the right direction. Just in case no one remembers me, my name is Susie, Im from south jersey. I have had recurring stomach pain attacks, for lack of a better explanation for years. I had my gallbladder removed last December and that's when these pain attacks started happening more frequently. any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you all so much, Susie
Guest guest
Susie, where do you live? Maybe we have someone in the group who lives near you that can recommend a doctor to you. A number of members have gotten good doctors this way. Also, you might have to think about traveling a little distance to get a doctor as pancreatic specialists just aren't that common. I travel about an hour and a half to get to my doctor and to the hospital that takes care of me when I have a flare up. I feel the travel time is worth it to have doctors I trust and like.. Guest guest
Dear Kimber: Thank you for responding. I live in south jersey. I would definitely be willing to travel to find a good doctor. I thought i had one but he definitely let me down. On top of all this, i have a herniated disc in my lower back and i'm having surgery in June for that. Between the two pains, its getting to the point where its hard to get around. Im 42 but sometimes feel like im much older. atleast my body anyway. im not depressed, i just want the pain to stop and a doctor to listen. i dont really think that's asking too much?????? I have two great kids which i enjoy spending time with more than anything and these weights are dragging me down, I want to go bowling, and roller blading and most of all I want to dance again. Its very frustrating more than anything for me. My mind says go for it but my body just wont cooperate!!!!! thank you again for responding. take care, susie - very south jersey
