Hi I am looking for some input, and help. My daughter, 3 1/2 has been

really sick on and off for about 6-8 weeks. She got this " crud " going

around, with cough, fever and general misery. It often goes into ear

infections, though I have avioded that. The problem is, now twice,

we have literally been 99.9% or more done with it.. no symptoms, etc,

and then it comes back. At the same time we have been doing

consipation, big time, a first since she was a small infant.. since

then it has been d, with a small stint in there of well formed

stolls, since about 5 months into SCD. We are now doing the third

round of this crud. Is this typical? We did just cut out honey about

8 weeks ago, and have been doing SCD w/o eggs, dairy ( except goat

yogurt )and only a small amount of raw macadamia butter. Could this be

die off? this exact crud IS going around. Any ideas on how to stop it

from coming back?

thanks in advance.

When she is ill you may want to keep your daughter either on the

intro or on very basic foods. As she starts to improve don't

increase the complexity of foods until she is well over the illness.

This may help it from restarting.

If stools still aren't good you may wish to remove or reduce the nut

butter.

My daughter who is not on SCD goes to a busy, crowded school. She never

seemed to completely fight the " crud " either. Sore throat, tummy aches,

headaches, body aches, and just plain tired. Oil of Oregano capsules

did the trick for her. One in the morning with food and one at dinner

time. It took about a week for her to clear up completely, but the crud

is gone. I had her take the capsules for three weeks.

Oil of Oregano is a very powerful extract andhas to be administrated carefully.

I don't

know what its relevanceis to SCD.

Hi Carol and Ana,

I think that Oil of Oregano is relevant to SCD because it helps the

children avoid antibiotics and pharmaceutical anti fungals. I do agree

that it has to be administered carefully.

Thank you for your help, Ana.
