Rhonda,

one of the reasons you might have had a change in the pain location is

that pancreatitis does progress as time goes by. As the disease gets

worse, the pain usually gets worse by moving from just under the ribs to

into the back and sometimes to the left or right, or both (or vice

versa) . Also, where you get the pain can and does vary per person as

the damage happens in different locations for different people. Again,

this is only what I've learned over time and not guaranteed to be

medically accurate as I'm not a doctor. So this is just what I've

gleaned from reading articles and talking to my doctors. I suggest you

bring this change in pain location to your doctor and see what that

doctor says. Personally, my pain has always been under the ribs in the

middle of the abdomen, but on those occasions when I've had my worst

pancreatic attacks, the pain has traveled to the back and to the side

(sometimes it's been to the right and sometimes to the left). I'm sure

you'll hear more from the others on the group about this.
