As for the back pain, most likely it is unrelated to the MGB. You might email or call Dr.R and ask him what to take for the pain. Guest guest
Gail, Please call your doc and go see her. This could be many things, you need to be seen. After all you've done, no use taking chances now, right? Fondly, Nurse Jude

Guest guest
Gail, Even though I had my surgery just a few weeks ago, I have noticed with the changing weather that I have been having my usual pains from arthritus, in my back and shoulders and especially in my groin. It isn't as severe but it's definately there. Could that be what you're experiencing? If it were me I'd go see your PCP or at the very least give Dr. R a call or email. Trudy Back Pain I had my MGB on 5/29/00 and for the last week I have been having really BAD back pain. Has anyone had this? Is there anything I can take for the pain? Thanks, Gail in Chapel Hill, NC Down 86 pounds

Guest guest
Gail- Of course I am NOT a DR but my husband is a chiropractor <G>. When you lose (or gain) weight it can cause changes in your spine that can cause pain. You may be walking different - sleeping different, etc. Any change, good or bad, can cause stress to the spine. Probably a temporary thing. Find a good chiropractor. Congratulations on your weight loss! Guest guest
Rhonda, That is where I have most of my pain. It has been that way since the beginning for me. Isn't it funny how we all have pain in different areas with the same disease! I have pain on my right side also. That just started about 3 months ago. Now it is pretty much constant. I think that as the disease progresses your pain patterns will change. I hope you will be feeling better! Guest guest
Rhonda, I can only agree with what Kimber has already discussed with you. As CP progresses, pain patterns can alter, too. When early in my diagnosis, all my pain was in the abdomen, but I found that within the first year after diagnosis, the pain shifted to the back, first along the mid back bra line area, and then eventually into the left shoulder blade area and mid back area. Often the back pain was more severe than the abdominal pain. I've heard from others stories much the same. Some have their pain on the right, others on the left. Since most of my damage was in the tail and my largest pseudocyst in the tail on the left, the left sided back pain made was explainable. Three things that I found that worked well to help this, in order of effectiveness, were: my chiropractor, a heating pad, or a jacuzzi with the jets aimed at the area where the pain was. Hope this info helps. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep. Southeastern Regional Rep.
