Guest guest
Guys, I am so frustrated today. The past few days have been horrible. I don't want to go to the emergency room and go back in the hospital! I finally had a bowel movement tonight but it had been 5 days since my last one. I have taken my phenergan, darvocet and oxycodone and nothing is helping. My heating pad is on full blast and I have been taking long hot baths. All my tricks are failing me. I have not slept more than 3 hours a night in about 3 nights. I am just so doggone frustrated!!! I just had to vent a little while. My kids are both gone to friends houses as we are out of school this week. So at least I am able to take a break and I am off work this week for spring break. My hubby is working this week but he is helping all he can. Any ideas to help with the pain!? I am hoping the doc will call me tomorrow about the octreotide and see if that will help. If not then I am going to call my doc and see if he can give me something stronger for pain. I really don't want to go back in the hospital!!! Thanks for letting me blow off some steam! Guest guest
Angie, If you're taking that much pain medication and having further problems with motility as a result, one thing that will help, even with your pain, is to keep your bowels moving more regularly. You need to find an effective fiber supplement like Metamucil, or FiberOne, or best yet, a prescription for a safe laxative like Miralax so that you can have good motility. Our systems just can't handle that much constipating pain medication without some supplemental health. My life was miserable, once I started needing more continual pain medication, by parallel bouts of constipation. As the bowels backed up, the pain increased, and it became a horrible cycle of pain......until I found a safe laxative that worked. Discuss this with your doctor as soon as you can, and see if he'll write you a script. In the meantime, go to the pharmacy and get something OTC that you can use in the meantime. I hope you start feeling better soon. Keep us posted. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep. Southeastern Regional Rep.
