Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have had cp for many years, though first diagnosed last year after malabsorbing for a decade or more. I am very grateful to Ian and all who replied to his questions about tiredness as you have described my symptoms perfectly. Getting up in the mornings with a cold, empty-feeling stomach and dull abdominal ache. By lunchtime going to bed for a couple of hours, totally exhausted after 3 or 4 hours work. Wanting to eat comfort food but knowing that it will make you feel a lot worse afterwards with abdo discomfort, distension, the runs. Feeling weak, with no energy. I improved quite a bit after my doctors advised greatly increasing my enzyme intake. I now take Creon with 40,000 units of lipase per capsule, about 6 with each meal and 2 with a snack. I only need to go to sleep in the afternoons occasionally instead of every day. Still can't manage much comfort food though, and still malabsorb a few days a week. I hope you improve Ian and thanks everyone for your wonderful information on this topic, Best wishes, Tony (UK)
Guest guest
Hi Tony! I am so glad to hear that my posts were of some use to you. This is all new to me and quite frankly, I am eager, if a little fearful to find out what exactly is going on. My pancreas problems are one of a long line of symptoms of various types that began last March after what I think was a serious bout of Infectious Mono (had swollen lymph glands under my neck for about a month). One thing that HAS been constant since the beginning however is the abdominal burn/fullness in the center of my ribs, and most lately in the classic area just to the left below my left ribs and straight through to the back. It is a mild dull discomfort rather than a full on kind of torturous pain, but its always with me now. Today my stools were a little more or less back to normal, though they still floated they were the right color and more solid than they have been. One thing Ive noticed (and anyone can chime in on this), is that I also tend to get clammy skin and kind of a feverish heat rushing to my head feeling once in a while, though I take my temperature and its normal. I do find that many times these " feverish/clammy " episodes occur just before a bowel movement, and when I get out of the bathroom I feel more " refreshed " I guess you could say? Unfortunately I dont experience the kind of " predictable " fatigue and abdominal distension most do, mine seems to come and go as it pleases, which with everything else makes me hope there is not something more sinister goin on inside me, but only a doctor will be able to tell me that. The thing that I guess bothers me the most is the fact that I always have these dark circles under my eyes now which make me look sick, and I shudder to think what they could be connected to, but once again, I just wont know til I dig deeper with a professional. Thanks, Ian.
