Guest guest
I don't believe black coffee is ok but I don't see why yogurt smoothies are not. I think you can have apple cider as well because you can make jello out of it. (to be completely honest, I do drink black tea on the intro...not sure if its allowed or not but I have never had a problem) Charlene <>< we are going back to the intro diet. this time we, the parents, are also going to put ourselves on it. what beverages are legal for the 1st 2 days of the intro besides from welch's grape juice? is black coffee? are yogurt smoothies (flavored with a drop of honey) ok for the intro? (This info is on the Pecanbread website and also on Elaine's site for the information of anyone else who is just getting started or returning to the intro diet.) If you are encountering problems, you may be making a few simple errors and could be halped by reviewing the book, the websites or contacting and SCD counselor. Carol F. Guest guest
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! Water is good. Diluted grape juice is good. WEAK tea and coffee without sweetener and/or milk is good. No smoothies on the intro. mrsdeals wrote: we are going back to the intro diet. this time we, the parents, are also going to put ourselves on it. what beverages are legal for the 1st 2 days of the intro besides from welch's grape juice? is black coffee? are yogurt smoothies (flavored with a drop of honey) ok for the intro? --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Just checking because I thought I read it. Thanks > Pearl, What you likely recall is Dr. Haas discovered ripe banana was one of the best tolerated foods by infants. Howevr, it is not on the intro diet. Yogurt in the cheesecake recipe on the adult SCD is the only yogurt I could find on the intro. ASD Intro Diet Since many of the children with ASD were casein free before beginning the SCD™, here is a list of suggested foods for the intro diet. The intro diet should be followed for 2-5 days. Chicken broth --Chicken broth with pureed cooked carrots --Chicken broth with chunks of cooked chicken --Chicken broth with cooked carrot sliced into little " coins " --Chicken broth with " chicken balls " made from ground chicken --Chicken broth with " noodles " made from beaten eggs cooked omelette-style into a " crepe " and then rolled up and thinly sliced --Chicken egg-drop soup Chicken pancakes Roasted chicken Roasted turkey Beef broth --Beef broth with meatballs made from ground beef Hamburger patties Eggs --scrambled --poached --hard-boiled --soft-boiled --sunny side up --deviled eggs made with homemade mayo Homemade jello (made from unflavored real gelatin and purple and/or white grape juice) Made in a shallow pan and cut with shaped cookie cutters or into cubes Carol F. Guest guest
I found what I was looking for in the archives. Does Dr. Haas intro vary with anything else from Elaine's or is that OT? Thanks Pearl From the archives: __,Very ripe bananas are a part of the Dr Haas intro diet. Mimi_._,___ --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Thanks Pearl > You bring up an interesting point. I know someone who is documenting the differences between Dr. Haas' diet and Elaine's version which we follow today. Dr. Haas gave Elaine very little info, and only told her what to feed her daughter. It was Elaine's curiosity about the " what and why " that produced hertwp books and the diet as we know it now.
