Guest guest
Ian, and some others, mention pain and'or a lump below lowest left rib. That's where my pain usually is about 3 inches from center, although sometimes starts center, and occasionally moves right as well. I don't get pain thru to the back, as many decribe, only to side. For a few months after my acute attack last year, I had significant pain at these locations, and I would also feel pain almost as bad at top of left shoulder near neck, or if pain was on right to top of right shoulder. I experience only rare mild pain the last few months, and when I do, going on liquid diet for a couple meals relieves it. Sometimes get a burning sensation in the lower bowels for a day thereafter.. When i have pain its usually accompanied by a hard lump at same point, just under lowest left rib, and the lump rises and falls every few minutes. When I've asked about this, two nurse practitioners have told me this (and the pain) could be hiatic hernia, rather than pancreas. i do have a mild hiatic hernia according to scans. One of the NPs asked a doctor, and then said doc told her a hiatic hernia would not be that low, but I don't know if she had been able to convey to him the actual location. My regular docs either give answers like " maybe " or non-commital. Does anyone know if that's a possibility, or did these NPs just need more anatomy study?
