  • 4 weeks later...

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd say hi to all and ask a question that

came up as I was reading the manual. It says that we

aren't supposed to drive for two weeks or until we feel

up to it. Two weeks seems like a long time to someone

like me who almost lives in their car, running errands,

shopping, driving kids everywhere......... Does it

really take that long to feel strong enough to get back

to a normal routine?

Thanks,

Elaine (MGB 01/08/01)

Elaine: I drove before two weeks. I had a wicked case of cabin fever and I'd

have hitchhiked if I'd had to to get out of the house and out from under my

husband's watchful eye!

It depends on how you feel! I know folks that drove home from Durham..probably

not the best thing to do but apparently it worked out ok.

I know I'm a " bad Andy " but I drove my friend to the airport on 11/11--my

surgery was on 11/9. I had no problem. But you know how your body works--if

you feel dizzy don't drive.

Just my opinion

Elaine:

I drove after one week and I was fine. I think it is up to how your body

feels (strength, energy, etc). Since a lot of us go back to work after 1

week, driving by then is fine.

Elaine,

I also live in my car, I actually drive to shows when I work, but I did wait

10 dys after surgery. Even riding in a car made my stomach a little sore, so I

am sure driving would have been a little too much. Take your time, listen to

your body.. it will tell you!

Flo,

Thanks for the info. I feel relieved to hear that the

two weeks isn't necessarily a standard. It seems like

the world comes to a standstill without " Mom " to drive

everyone everywhere.
