Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Thanks for your suggestions. I was hoping that there was a way to change the settings in the menu bar but unfortunately my version of IE doesn't have the options that you mentioned on the view bar. So I cannot change the settings the way I was hoping to. My computer at work is about 10 years old and I cannot get a replacement because of the cost of a new one (they still think that computers are frills and are just for playing games). So I am using very old versions of everything...from filemaker pro to MS word to the browsers! But I am lucky that I even have internet access as this computer is definitely on its way out (CD-ROM hasn't worked for over a year....it crashes frequently, the mouse has become jerky and freezes often...all signs of an imminent hard drive meltdown!). It will be interesting to see what happens when it dies.....I will be back to doing all my patient work by hand....testing, labeling, reporting, archiving and billing. So much for working in the 21st century (do you detect bitterness and sardonic musings here?) I am starting to recover from this viral thing....this has surely been the worst bug that I have ever had. The more annoying thing now is my swollen neck...it is getting more painful and spreading. Not sure what that is about as my sinuses are not too bad and the sore throat went away a few days ago. I just started taking some old antibiotics that I found laying around so if it is a super-infection I should be getting it down in a day or two. Definitely a weird bug....but it is almost summer-like here now and I am planning on using lots of natural UV light to burn these bugs out of me this weekend so that by Monday I should be bright eyed and bushy tailed! Guest guest
Laurie, If you need a computer for your home use, you might check with &/or join a user group for leads to a good used one on the cheap. My mac user group is worth way more than the $40. / year membership for the ability to get free repairs, classes, & advice. I've used pcs but became a mac addict, partly because my son earns his living doing graphic art on macs, but I prefer macs anyway for lack of crashes or virus worries. I see this month's Consumer Reports also lists them as the most reliable. They are more expensive than comparable pc models, which is why I suggest the used route, but I've only bought used from fellow members I trust. With used, you want to be sure to get enough memory to use current OSX operating system as much more reliable than earlier systems. Enough with the mac promo. They won't help with your organic viruses. Hope your meds and UV are helping fight those. Maybe you could sleep under those plant lights. In those tropical Wisconsin summers with almost 100% humidity, we used to sleep in the basement anyway, until about 2 am, when the outside temp would get down in the 80s.
