I agree with what you said about how our society has changed. We had an

escaped convict loose out near where I live a few weeks ago. They turned a 4H

camp

about a mile from my house into a juvenile corrections center and did not

notify anyone nearby they were doing this. We are in the middle of nowhere! It

was a frightening experience. We have a rapist that has hit twice in Aiken so

far and from what I understand has attacked more women in other towns in SC.

When I was growing up we did not have air conditioning and I slept with my

windows open. I would not dare do that now! If I could get any wish granted I

wanted it would be for a safer world for my children.

I am sorry to hear about your problems. I will be praying it is not serious.

Take care of yourself!

I know what you mean about meds making you sleepy. The oxycodone makes me

really sleepy. But then when I go to sleep it makes me stay awake! Crazy stuff.

Feel better soon!

I went to my oncologist today for a followup and also because there

was a possibility my pain in my scar line was a hernia. They made me

cough, and can feel something in there, but it doesn't feel or

disappear like a hernia would, so they are leaning towards another

tumour growing, although it doesn't feel like the right shape for a

tumour.

I am going to hold off on a scan for another 2 months, as I only had

one done 2 months ago, and the surgeon thinks this is a good idea to

wait a bit longer. If I can't handle the pain at any time then he

will order a CT scan upon my request.

He also said it could be the pocket of fluid I had there draining

into my tissues but we shall just wait and see. I have too many

plans to have anything medically done yet, so will try and wait it

out..also my mum will need time to get her tickets and herself

organized to come over to help me..so it will work out best to wait.

I think I will be going back to a pain specialist as the percocet

don't help me much and the neurontin just doesn't agree with me.

Makes me too drowsy even at the lowest dose, and I can't be falling

asleep with a 3 year old around.

Just thought I'd let you guys know...

Did the doctor say that the fluid would just run out and the mass

would dissapaite or would the drain site continue to drain? Where

does he think the drainage is coming from?

Nuerotin is a difficult med to get accustomed to. It could take 6-8

weeks for your body to adjust and for somebody who has been on as

many drugs as you it might take longer. Does it help with the

pain? If it does maybe you can just make that your nightime

medication. At the very least, you are guarenteed a good night

sleep.

Something we all miss and treasure..LOL There are meds

(amphetamines) that you can take to combat the tiredness that the

nuerotin causes. That might be something to discuss with your pain

doc. However, I am of the school of thought to use meds judicially

and the least amount possible to achieve the best results. I recall

somebody on the board mentioning a med to help with the sleepiness

of neurotin and I dont remember who and dont remember the drug,

sorry, but I do recall that it wasn't an amphetamine and that

surprised me at the time.

I'm am kind of glad you dont have a hernia. They can sometimes

cause a lot of trouble and complications; with your history I feared

surgery for you. Thinking you would be trading one problem for

another and didn't want that for you. I am almost certain what I

have is an incisional hernia and I dont want surgery for myself

either and I have no where near the situation you have to endure. I

am just the unluckiest person on earth. Thats why I dont

gamble...LOL.

Get this, not too far from where I live a woman and her teenage

daughter were violently attacked and raped. The woman died, the

daughter is in the hospital and will be phyically fine. The

attacker has yet to be caught but just got out of prison for

assaulting another woman. Well here I am all alone waiting on

Alison to come home from work hoping she wouldn't go out. Well she

is, but only up the street, and I told her to be very careful. The

town I live in has at the most 15 streets but we are very isolated

where we are. The attack was about 25 miles from here in a small

city that has not had a murder in 3 years and that was a police

officer killed when he pulled over a drug dealer passing thru the

town.

Sometimes I just dont understand what has happenned to our society.

When I was a girl we could leave the doors unlocked and I know that

I could knock on any door in the neighborhood and be taken in and

probably given a snack to boot. How could things change so much in

such a short span of time.

Well Ihope you feel better soon and we will talk soon I am sure.

Love,
