Guest guest
hello! im new to the diet and was wondering if anyone could tell me if orange and pineapple juice are permitted at stage 1.Also I started my son on the diet acouple of days ago on the intro diet and he eats alot of eggs. How many are allowed/safe for a 31/2 year old? Is it ok to use honey at stage1? any comments, suggestions would be much appreciated.
Guest guest
my 9 year old son has been having a 6 egg omlet every day for breakfast. i have done some research on this and found that free range eggs (from a local farmer - would be true free range) are high in omegas which would be beneficial. therer are many claims that state that you don't get high cholesterol from eating cholesterol. there is a really good section on eggs in the cookbook Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon that backs this up. my son only has fruit and nuts in his lunch at school so at least the eggs keep him full until he gets home at 3. We did use honey in stage 1 and had no problems, but i am not sure if that would be true for everybody. good luck, jill and ethan Crohn's SCD 1/07 ummrumaisa wrote: hello! im new to the diet and was wondering if anyone could tell me if orange and pineapple juice are permitted at stage 1.Also I started my son on the diet acouple of days ago on the intro diet and he eats alot of eggs. Jill, SCD science is based on the research of Elaine Gottschall. Sally Fallon of Weston-Price is not a scientist. A scientist assists her. Nourishing Traditions is not our book of reference, SCD is based on " Breaking the Vicious Cycle. " Sally is a compelling, tireless speaker and health advocate and a very charming and poised woman when you meet her in person but she is not expert on SCD. Our guidelines state " Discussions and advertising of alternative diets, illegal foods, treatments that are not recommended, or other subjects that are not part of the science and practices of SCD are not allowed on the list. " I hope I haven't offended you as your intentions were to be helpful but it's important to keep our own protocols clear. Consuming six eggs every day seems excessive. SCD is a diet intended to be balanced. Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
Guest guest
carol, no you haven't offended me. i wasn't aware that we couldn't mention other books on the site. as to ethans egg consumption, well i do what i do to keep him full, happy and compliant. the diet has been a miracle for us, worked very quickly and ethan is now medication free. although i wish he wasn't as picky as he is, i still feel better about giving him all of the eggs he wants, rather than the remicade infusions we were thinking of prior to SCD. I researched egg consumption as a way to put my mind at rest so i wouldn't feel i was filling up his arteries with cholesterol. he probably eats way to much SCD fudge and ice cream too but the diet is working. thanks for your continued help with my son. jill and ethan. carolfrilegh wrote: > > my 9 year old son has been having a 6 egg omlet every day for breakfast. i have done some research on this and found that free range eggs (from a local farmer - would be true free range) are high in omegas which would be beneficial. therer are many claims that state that you don't get high cholesterol from eating cholesterol. there is a really good section on eggs in the cookbook Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon that backs this up. Guest guest
Welcome " ummrumaisa " , << hello! im new to the diet and was wondering if anyone could tell me if orange and pineapple juice are permitted at stage 1. >> Pure orange or pure pineapple juice ( no illegals) are fine early in the diet. The juices should be diluted in the beginning stages while still healing to at least 50% water. << Also I started my > son on the diet acouple of days ago on the intro diet and he eats alot > of eggs. >> Elaine wrote that 3-4 eggs/day are okay. This total does not include the eggs that are baked into foods. <<Is it ok to > use honey at stage1? >> Honey is legal at the beginning of the diet, right from the intro diet. Here are some links for getting started on the diet: http://pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#transition http://pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#intro http://pecanbread.com/new/success1.html http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm http://pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#menu http://pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#beyond Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs mom of and

Onion powder and garlic powder are legal if made at home. The spices are permitted, but may or may not be tolerated. Guest guest
Everyone in my immediately family prefers it straight up, but I have always found it interesting that my nephew has never likes his juice straight. He says it is too strong. For example, he says that purple grape juice tastes like wine. He hates it unless diluted. Guest guest
I always dilute even more than 1/2 and 1/2. I have also stopped drinking Welch's grape juice. Even diluted I felt it was too strong. I just drink Tropicana oj (diluted 1/4 juice to 3/4 water), water and black or peppermint tea.
