Guest guest
hi...i'm new to the group...i don't know if SCD will help me but i'm pretty desparate so i thought i'd try it. i'm not sure that it's right for me cause i don't have UC or chrones....i do have yeast and leaky gut.....my main symptoms are bloating (inablitly to digest meat, eggs, etc,) gerd, and constipation... ..i have had testing thru great smokies labs. apparently i have 2 kinds of yeast. I came back negative for parasites i've had bad digestive problems ever since i got first got sick living in Mexico a couple years ago. I got h-pylori...there which made everything worse...i had to do 2 rounds of antibiotics to get it...and in the process i've gotten sicker and sicker. right now the only things that i can eat w/o the bloating are non- starchy vegetables and small amounts of oil. Any time i eat meat, eggs, dairy, seeds/nuts...i get bloating...the more acid forming the food is the worse the bloating. i'd like to try SCD...but i think all the meat and eggs, dairy would just keep me sick (unless my digestion improves. i'm pretty sure i have a lack of stomach acid. I've been taking some gut healing products by pure encapsulations ..which seem to improve bloating a bit...but i have a feeling that they are still feeding the yeast. I know SCD says " no muciligenous herbs " am i in the right place? can anyone relate ??? i don't know if i should try SCD or if i would fit better in the candidiasis groups. thanks so much. vada
Guest guest
Vada, Welcome to the group. I think SCD is worth a try. In Elaine's book, Breaking the Vicious Cycle, she encourages individuals to at least give SCD a full month of complete compliance and hearty effort. Have you read through the web sites btvc.info and pecanbread.com? You would want to start with the intro diet. This does consist of meats, eggs, and well cooked carrots, but many people are surprised at how their body heals once they get started on SCD. It may be helpful for you to use digestive enzymes, but it is important to make sure they are SCD legal. Many people like Houston Nutrasudicles Peptizide and No Fennol. It might be wise to not start the enzymes for a little while just to see how SCD alone helps. It is so important for you to read through those two web sites, and read Breaking the Vicious Cycle through. It will answer so many questions. I'd suggest either high lighting or taking notes as well. Also, keep a food journal with all foods you have eaten each day, and how you feel...bowel symptoms, behavioral symptoms(irritability, depression, ect.), and just any general comments. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Vada, <<...i do have yeast and > leaky gut.....my main symptoms are bloating (inablitly to digest > meat, eggs, etc,) gerd, and constipation... >> This sounds similar to a person I counselled a few years ago. The person had low stomach acid. The low stomach acid prevented the body from fighting H. pylori and they ended up with H. pylori infection, stomach ulcers, bloating constipation etc... I'd suggest getting the level of your stomach acid tested to see if you have low stomach acid. If you do you can take betaine HCl for that and perhaps protolytic enzymes. But you need to know if your low stomach acid is the root problem. Some info on stomach acid tests: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003883.htm http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/health/Therapy/Acid_Test.htm If you do have low stomach acid it isn't suprising that you have yeast, your bodies natural defenses are " out of whack " . If you have questions you can contact me on or off list sheilat@... Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs mom of and
