Guest guest
Hi , I remember discussing this same issue some time back, on another board and one idea that was suggested is that the pain and nausea after the BM is due to the hormonal release of CCK (and maybe secretin) that is induced when we have a BM. The thought was that the action of these hormones stimulate the intestines to contract and the process of defecating increases the production and action of CCK. The CCK may then cause the typical pain / nausea that is associated with pancreas / biliary (SOD) problems. I am not sure if this is a reasonable explanation.....and if it is, how this helps us to prevent it from happening....but I know that in my case, I always seem to have a mini-flare right after a BM - no matter the consistency of the stool. Maybe others can weigh-in on this so we can get a sense of how credible this explanation is. Laurie
