" A lot of people feel there is a relationship to their left anatomy and pancreatitis, however, the pancreas actually lies posterior to the abdomen, midline to the spine, and above both kidneys. The exact location of the inflammation in the pancreas may be unilateral, though. There is merit to your concern that the pancreatic inflammation may have affected surrounding organs. This is most commonly seen with the spleen, as many persons with inflammation in the tail of the pancreas develop a splenic thrombosis. There is controversy on the exact nature and cause for this, however. Regarding breathing problems during an inflammatory period, I also experience that. For myself, I don't feel that this is related to my lungs, per se, as it is my abdominal cavity. I feel completely inflamed, and when I breath in, my abdominal walls simply cringe when they have to expand. Karyn E. , RN, Exec.
