Guest guest
Hello all...Many of our long time members will probably remember Dr Pete Hayden. I know that I have sent some of you to his website at http://www.amyloiddiabetes.com Anyway, Pete just wrote me with some exciting news. Please read his message to me below and check out the website he provides. I hope this finds you and yours well......Mark Hi Mark, I haven't heard from you for quite awhile..... Hope you are doing well..... I have been working with a new molecule (actually 100 years old) called sodium thiosulfate. It is a potent antioxidant and also a chelator of calcium.... This is the medication I used to heal my wife's skin ulceration due to a condition called calciphylaxis. It not only relieved her pain with the very first treatment in Dec 04 but has now regressed her calcific deposits associated with dialysis and secondary hyperparathyroidism due to its chelating qualities of quenching calcium from the tissues. All of her calcific deposits have regressed. I think this could be used sucessfully in acute pancreatitis..... and maybe even chronic pancreatitis with acute flare ups. I noted some very old literature back in the 40s and 50s in German with no abstract to read. Also, I think this therapy with sodium thiosulfate could help to prevent the acute pancreatitis associated with ERCP. I have written a mechanistic paper and yesterday as I was uploading the paper regarding my wife's Case Report I thought of you and your wonderful group and how this molecule - medication might be helpful for pancreatitis. Please share this information with your group. Also, Please share this with Tony as I have not heard from him for a long time either. Back in Dec. I thought sure I might lose my wife to her skin ulceration due to sepsis and was very depressed. Now that the treatment with sodium thiosulfate has healed her ulceration of the skin we both feel so much more optimistic and the fact that spring is here is really helpful too..... I have devoted most all of my time and efforts this winter writing papers to share with the world of suffering patients and now one of them is published and the other has been uploaded and I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be accepted as well. Here is the address of the paper explaining the mechanism of calcium deposition in the arterial vessel wall: http://www.cardiab.com/content/4/1/4 Please share with members in your group and you may even post it on your website if you feel comfortable doing so. I have had phone calls and e-mails from all over the world since the above paper went online. Even from Dr.s here in the USA. From UC DAVIS IN CALIF. AND JOHNS HOPKINS ....... Today over 1700 have downloaded the article and it is not even a month old yet so apparently this paper has touched a nerve. Sodium thiosulfate restores the endotheliums ability to produce endothelial nitric oxide, or at least this is the mechanism I have proposed and many many people agree with my hypothesis. It has no serious side effects and is approved for the treatment of cyanide poisioning by the FDA and also a chelator for lead and mercury poisioning.... It has been used as a food preserative and medicine preservative for many years. If given too rapidly it may cause diarrhea, nausea and even vomiting. If infused slowely it does not have these side effects. It quenches the reactive oxygen species associated with so many illnesses.... pete Be sure to share with Tony Later and HAPPY SPRING........ pete hayden missouri.
