If you are referring to the test that looks for trypsinogen gene

defects then this is one way to ascertain if there is a genetic

cause for pancreatitis.

If there is a defect in the gene or a certain sub-type of gene it is

thought that this may pre-dispose people for pancreatitis.

I am not sure what the mechanism is though, that goes from

defect to disease.

Not sure if this is what you are asking about though....

Laurie; I think the defect for the condition you may have been

thinking of is called Alpha 1 antitrypsin defiency.

I am not sure what the mechanism is though, that goes from
