Guest guest
If you are referring to the test that looks for trypsinogen gene defects then this is one way to ascertain if there is a genetic cause for pancreatitis. If there is a defect in the gene or a certain sub-type of gene it is thought that this may pre-dispose people for pancreatitis. I am not sure what the mechanism is though, that goes from defect to disease. Not sure if this is what you are asking about though.... laurie > > Does anyone know the value of knowing these? Guest guest
Laurie; I think the defect for the condition you may have been thinking of is called Alpha 1 antitrypsin defiency.
