Guest guest
Hi ummrumaisa, << hi,its the novice again. does anyone know if QUEST acidophilus plus > is scd legal? thanks>> Sorry, but no it isn't legal. It contains these illegals: maltodextrin and L. casei & L. rhamnosus(probiotic forms are illegal). L. casei is fine in yogurt starter. L. rhamnosus is a natural bacteria found in homemade sauerkraut. Guest guest
Dear Sheila, Is it OK to eat sauerkraut from the refrigerator section at the supermarket, as long as all listed ingredients are legal? Guest guest
Hi , << Is it OK to eat sauerkraut from the refrigerator section at the supermarket, as long as all listed ingredients are legal? >> Yes, should be just cabbage, water and salt. There may be other ingredients. If it has bacteria cultures added you'll have to check out what they are. But, usually commercial refrigerated sauerkraut is fermented with just the natural bacteria in the cabbage. Why not ask other list members from the UK what they use for probiotics. Guest guest
Sheila, We use probiotics as follows: 'ultra pro bioplex' capsules from a company called 'nutri'-these are bio-acidophillus without FOS. We also use Calcidophilus which we get from Biocare. Sacchromyces boulardi you get from the Nutri Centre in London. We use this one week on, one week off. I recently bought a 'beer making mat' from a company called 'pico systems' in Cumbria. This helps to keep temperature steady so that yoghurt can be made (i used a ceramic casserole dish and woodlands live sheep's yoghurt as a starter). From what i have read this is a great source of good bacteria if it can be toleratedI have made one batch so far, following instructions in BTVC. It is delicious, though I don't know if my daughter will tolerate it. Best of luck. Aidan (Father of J -8yrs old (ASD, ADHD, highly allergic), SCD 3 months). ======================================== Message Received: May 07 2007, 05:31 PM From: " sheilat@...
