Guest guest
I have been to 2 sessions with this anesthetist who is trying to pin point the cause of my pain that started after my gall bladder removal and 2 ercpe shinterotmies. I have had the thorascopic splanncicetomy which severs the nerves in your back but still I have unrelenting pain that I take slow release and fast realease morhine for. my specialist says I have CP even though no test has shown a conclusive result. This has been going on for 6 years now I have been scheduled for blinded tests eg via IV and I have no idea what drugs they are, and wont know till the end Has anyone else gone though this? what are your thoughts? the next session this week is some kind of block sessions 2 I said today at the pain tests that I was in a 7 and I had not taken meds..... In fact none I said I cant lie down it was obvious, I was worried as what happens is teh pain builds and then spirals and then I have to take so much more pain meds. Argh I didnt think about the withdrawal thing, but I figured I was being bloody brave, I described my pain as knife in my back gutting inside through. I also said that before I started that last week I had to take 150 mg morphine fast release to try and get the pain back down. I also said that on Tuesday night I was up all night doign the same around the same dose and I write it down as I take it. I take 10 20 mg then I wait 30 minsutes if it has not started goignt down I take more etc. I also said that I remembered afterwards that I couldnt breathe, he said but you did, that I felt spaced out and I didnt liek the test number 2 as I was bloody scared, the pain subsided from a 4 to gone but I had a tingly sensation and I couldnt open my eyes and I was totally panicked and spaced out and I had like nightmares visions that cam flooding back of trying to get off the bed and not breathing. He said I did breathe though.I could hardly walk to the toilet and when I was tring to get off the bed with my eyes closed 6 tried to keep me on with oxygen. I couldnt see them. I said it seemd to makebmy pain worse the last tests all week. My pain has never gone, it is always there it bores away comes in waves and I have no idea what triggers it it changes form oen day to the next, sometimes food sometimes walking, sometimes stress, stomach bugs wipe me out. I am worried that I may not be giving the right answers........ as the drugs usurp you.... I am by myself and Col told me to say that I end up spiralling and end up in hospital when that happens. he said to me today when I was in test number 3 do you know how many operations you have had I said I hae no idea...... I have no veins left and he had to use my bruised foot once more to do the test. How do you make them see believe your pain?????????? I mean they cant feel it, I am now at a 6 and I have had to take 80 mg sevredol so far after, and I cant bring it down. After a while at 6 I end up leaning over forward Like I do I cant lie down, I end up wincing and in tears, then if it goes up I pace, I then as it reaches a 9 or 10 scream......... I have been at 10 a few times. I am so scared to ever go back there ...... I try and close my eyes and I stare into the distance to try and focus away from pain..... How do you show them pain make them pain What I do want to know is.... WHAT happens to blood pressure and pulse rate when pain increase / decreases??? I saw things go up and down. Does that prove presence of pain??????? They asked me in test number 3 what I did when I took up to 200 mg fast release morphine, I was coherent, I decsribed what I did. I also said I was tired of the pain.... and if he could get rid of it I would be forever grateful..He asked a lot of questions during test 3 infusion. How do you describe feelings pain drug reactions when you are nto sure of the words I was lost... I said I felt warm I knew that this was doing something but my pain started at 7 mostly remained ther emy pain went down to min 6.5 but my head was spaced and I saw double. My blood pressure and pulse went up. At the conclion of that One I wen to the loo but I almost fell down and I sat on the loo had trouble going, and then I felt real sick, I sat there with the door open with TWO nurses outside just in case. He asked a lot of questions...... I was coherent I knew it was a drug eg not a placebo, but pain didnt budge..... just a drugged feeling.....and double vision. I then went back to the bed in recovery where its done with the anesthetist and he set up infusion 4, I then started at a score of 7...... I moved maybe to 6 min. I then felt so nauseous I was belching and gonna be sick,..... he gave me soemthing but I was still nausous the whole 30 mins. I knew it was a real drug, I burped a lot, My pain didnt change much, I felt spaced, I told him and the nurse that I hated that feeling with a drug....... I looked really nauseous. Then maybe 30 mins later I sort of started feeling ok after sweating and needing water I have no idea what these drugs are.... my GP said that last week it might have been an anticonvulsant that made me hallucinate. he said that he had a lot of answers I tried ot eyeball him but these drugs make you grow insular and he sai dhe would discuss results at the end.... I dunno what he thinks I couldnt tell. I just hope like hell that he isnt out to say that I dont have pain BECAUSE if he does I am going to throw all my pain meds away and then end up on the floor and not leave until they fix it so they can see.... and they will have to fix it. I had the first 2 tests the week before They ran up an iV through my foot then the dose of whatever is titrated through my foot The first one didnt do anything The second one I couldnt remember much, I sort of came too realised I had trouble breathing. They have all monitor machines on. I was only at a level of 4 pain as it was in the morning and I hadnt eaten. My pain is always worse through to the end of the day night or after I eat. Then about 10 hours later it came back. I remember that I felt like I wasnt there, I cant remember being able to keep my eyes open. I remember like trying to get away from the test and not being able to breathe, I couldnt openmy eyes. I could feel the outside of my skin was all. Blood pressure etc and whatever else went up. I was wiped out after it. I think the pain went, but I was scared. It was like a fit but I have never had those. Then i had to take 4 times my normal dose yesterday to get my pain down. I have no idea what it was, but I was struggling to breathe, but I couldnt see. Has anyone had a reaction like this. I am unsure as to begin to look on the net to see what it was. I have no idea what this stuff means, Your thoughts Debs
Guest guest
--- Hi Debs Ive read your post and am sorry but Ive had no experience with what youre talking about. I gather that you are talking about a pain clinic? Something like a pain management program? Are they attempting to see what meds work best for you and what dosage? From what you have posted will I now have an idea of what to expect when invited to a pain management session? I hope for yourself that they come to some conclusion or at least an effective method to relieve your pain. From the sounds of it you are taking a great deal of morphine. I notice that you have had surgical procedures to eleavate the pain which unfortunatly did not work for you. Have you considered a celaic plexus block or other surgical treatment for pain? Wish I could be of help. Hopefully, someone will have more information for you regarding the tests you speak of. All the best Cheers In pancreatitis , " debzdebznz " <debzdebznz@h...> wrote: > > I have been to 2 sessions with this anesthetist who is trying to > pin point the cause of my pain that started after my gall bladder > removal and 2 ercpe shinterotmies.
