Guest guest
Thank you Karyn! Your message meant so much to me, especially as I have done so little to help other pancreatitis sufferers just lately. I hope people understand just how much of my time and emotional energy have been channelled into coping with current problems. As I have said, I am never leaving the group and will be back to normal as soon as possible. Thank you again for those kind thoughts and uplifting words! I hope you are feeling well yourself. You deserve to, given how much support you give to others through your work for this site and related activities. With love, Fliss (UK)
Guest guest
Karyn, WOW! to all you said. I thought I definatly needed to be on the thyroid meds for being hypo and the fact that the FNP and GI liked me being high on the meds made me nervous and also gave me a feeling that they don't care about my health. No one ever said HALF of what you just said to me. Again, like my pancreas pain, I am just supposed to deal with it so I am. My mom had a history of angina and now I am alarmed that if I continue on these meds to keep my thyroid level so high it may induce that. As far as inducing a pancreatitc attack to lose weight....NO, NEVER, NOT A CHANCE, FORGET THAT!!! I have come to the conclusion that although I wouldn't mind being 25 pounds lighter and " medically weight correct " there isn't anything out there that I would do to myself to make me get that way, if it meant hurting myself or my health in some way. I just have to learn to live with the fact that I am overweight. Although I cannot see where I am " grossly obese " as I am contunually called. I am 5'10 and 201 pounds and size 14/16 doesn't look to me to be grossly obese. In fact I think most of the young girls and guys out there in the world today need to put on a few pounds. Way to skinny!! Just my opinion. Thanks Karyn for your words. Perhaps I will print this out and make an appt. with my FNP and get her take on this. Am I reading one of your lines wrong Karyn. You said " : Another serious consequence of taking thyroid medication when it is not necessary to treat low thyroid is that it can trigger a defense mechanism in the thyroid gland called " Wolff-Chaikoff effect " resulting in a defective and abnormalities of thyroid function " . I know I am " low " by testing and if 2-3 is considered normal then 5.6 is low. So since taking medication mine has gone to 0.04, should I NOT be taking it? I do not understand what you mean by that sentence. I'd like to be clear on all this when I make an appointment to see the FNP. I also need to get my percocet refilled. Thats always a stressfull situation for me. Although I do not ask for more than 60 pills a year so far, I still get nervous asking for them none the less. Sandy in Ca I asked her how she knew. She said she didn't, but thyroid disease is often asymptomatic. I told her, if I was hyperthyroid, why didn't I have the luxury of the " associated " weight loss. She said that was as much a fallacy as the weight loss associated with pancreatitis.
