Made my first batch of yogurt

and it is sooo bitter!! I let it ferment for 32 hours (I was at work

when it would have hit 24 exactly, so I couldn't pu tit into the

refrigerator until I got home). Is it supposed to be this bitter?

It wasn't goat milk. It was Organic Valley 2%.

i dont know..let it sit in the refriderater over night and try it

again...did you try it when it wasn't completely cold?

Hmmm. Are you sure " bitter " is the best description? Yogurt is pretty tart,

especially if you didn't eat it before starting SCD and are just getting used to

the taste.

If you drip it, that will help. My Yogurment came with a cloth bag for dripping

the yogurt. I also own a metal strainer for making 'yogurt cheese'. Here is a

Maybe the yogurt didn't ferment right, or the starter was not lively, or the

temp wrong. I find that pasteurized milk, when it goes bad, becomes bitter. I

wouldn't eat it if it tastes bitter. It should be tart but nice.

I think you're right - the yogurt is tart, but I think it's because

I haven't had plain yogurt in a while. I've been eating it the past

few days & I'm really liking it!
